I have a Sceadu EVO 50 still in the box, I have flown raptor's for years, I am selling my trex600n can't afford to finish toe trex. So is the EVO 50 a good heli out of the box for basic flying? I have had this kit for awhile, just havn't had time to build.

So they are a good heli. Is there any upgrades needed?

You may want to upgrade the washout assembly with the SD-G version; the whole set has p/n 0412-188. This is considered the only really needed upgrade.
Purely for noise reasons you might want to exchange the plastic gears with the delrin ones. My Sceadu EVO was silent for its first month then the plastic gears started to scream... The complete SD DTDS set has p/n 0412-168, the counter gear for the tail pulley has p/n 0414-169. The two gears in the DTDS has their own part numbers if you want to replace only one of them but I don't have their respective p/n's. Different persons have success with silencing the transmission with replacing more or less of the gears so you may start with only replacing the counter gear to begin with and then more if needed.

UpgradesIMO, It really doesn't "need" upgrades until the above mentioned parts start to wear out. And this is as stated from Jeff Green.
That being said, I have replaced my washout after it started to show some wear. The Evo is a great heli!!

Also in the future you may want to replace the yoke

I've flown my Evo for about a year. No 3d- sport flying although I can hover inverted!
It's a great heli- very smooth and stable. I just bought a Freya based on my great experience with the Evo.
And as an aside- I just had my first crash in that time frame- a totally botched auto attempt while trying to learn. Down like a rock when I stalled it- $42 in parts to fix. Minor.

The field where I fly hasn't been mowed yet this year- really tall! Otherwise it would have been more- still though I was impressed by how well it took the drop.
