Watch how you mount that MP5, it wasn't exactly made for the Raven:

So i got the MP5 yesterday and fired the engine up just to make sure everything is going to run for tomarow. I am very curious to see how this uniflow ends up working. The engine seemed to be idling a
little leaner than usual. The MP5 is a little louder than the hatori. Regardless, it looks like it has a lot more volume than the hatori.

Interestingly, of the few posts i found of the hatori SAB5 rs this is what i found

"I am running a Hatori SAB5-RS right now and I feel it is restricting the YS50."

"I also ran a hatori SAB5-RS for a while. It seemed to give the OS hyper a little too much back pressure. I found it ran the engine hotter and did not have the same power as the MP2."

"tried Hatori SAB5, i'm back to the stock muffler."

it is also discontinued sooooo......

I have never run this bird with another muffler so i am optimistic

Mike, i did a couple flights on the muffler today. I didn't notice any problems but i am still going to heat shield the area.

The good news after todays flights is the engine really ran sweet. Inverted seemed to have just as much climbout as upright and i could really power through manuevers.

The bad news is one of my tail boom supports cracked and it looks like a forgot to put a spacer there to extend it away from the frame. I just might JB-weld the sucker back together while i wait for the part.

Also, the uniflow system was just not merciful today. I am not sure what i am doing wrong but when i fill the tank it goes about 1/4 of the way before it starts to dump fuel into the muffler. It just made a mess. Am i missing something there?

Thats the only trick with uniflow.

it's a little complicated to fuel.

I'll describe the process i use. I have a "T" splitter that goes to my carb and to my header and the open end is for filling. I also have a clamp on every section of tubing, especially the muffler line

Filling: Vent on tank open, carb to "T" closed, Muffler line closed

Starting / flying: Vent on tank closed, Carb to T open muffler open.

Right after landing: Vent open, carb to t closed, muffler closed.

It is important to have your tank vent open to release the pressure in the tank from temp changes and such. If you dont open it, It will try to force fuel into the muffler and flood your carb. If those paths are blocked then it will swell you tank and split it.

mike were do you get the clamps to stop fuel flow into the muffler?

These are the ones I use:

but you might be able to find them at your local hobby store.
