Dear friends:
Yesterday finally I received the last " element " of the electronics
for the " Mary´s " Crane.
After some doubt,I tried for the maximum torque servos, an electronic
switch with two battery packs, a very good gyro, and an exclusive
radio for this heavy chopper.

Radio Futaba 10C 2,4 GHz
Main rotor Futaba 9156 servos
Tail rotor Futaba 9256
Gyro Futaba 611
Trhottle Hitec 649 Mg
Robbe electronic switch
two battery packs 4000 mA per unit

Perhaps It´s not the best, but I think that is good and solid for
an Air Crane.

Regards
Xavi

Electronics

Hi Xavi, My suggestion to you is to get rid of the 9256 because it does not have nearly enough torque to push the 4 bladed tail around. You want a min of 90-100 oz of torque. The 9156 servos are perfect for the head, and would be just fine for the tail rotor. If you like something a little more fast, I suggest the Futaba BLS351 which as 168 oz at 4.8, at .16sec. Thats the key to the larger tail rotors and larger helicopters, because you have more mass to push, and a larger surface to air ratio. So with a weaker servo the tail will be all over the place because it can not hold the heading inputs from the gyro. Also match the throttle servo with the head servos so there is no throttle lag between pitch change and throttle change. Other than that you should be good to go. Hope that helps- Adam

guau!!!vaya bicharraco.

You might try "chinese weights" on the tail blades to ease up on the tail servo loads.

Translation
I imagine that these talking about the aircrane of Vario.
Have if you can give details of the machine (weight, engine, mechanics ...)
y. ... photos!

I see you're SOBRA of electronica, although I am one of those who think
that the fewer things better ... (That does not mean that you're going to mount electronics bad !!!!)... I fly a turbine with a 401!
. At the end what matters is that the model is well adjusted and fly well.

Electronics

Hi Adam :
Thank you very much for your help, I consider your suggestion and
search the best solution.
Can you help me in the question as follows ?.
I have a Benzin trainer with Gy 401 and 9254 ( works nice )and a Gy 611 with exclusive 9256 recently purchased and very expensive, the Gy 611 in the instructions page advice than other servos different at
9256 will burn at cause of the very high speed of the signal ( 760
micro seconds )only the specified 9256 works with Gy 611.......
The question : I change the 401 and a BLS351 for the Crane and the
Gy 611 for the Benzin or I fly the Crane with revo - mix activated and
the 611/ 9256 without heading hold mode ?
Thanks in advance
Xavi

Hello,

Very nice project !

Regarding your white battery connector:
Recommend not using this. Its really very bad.

I would recommend Multiplex plug (nr 1)

or this Deans connector (nr 2)

Best regards
Totto

Air Crane electronics

Hi guys:

I wanted to check my Air-Crane this weekend, but Joe and Totto made me delay it until I have these doubts solved:

About Joe´s observations: The connections are the same that my Benzin Trainer has (with more than 300 flights), and are the same that appear in the manual, as you can see on the pic. I´m not sure what you are suggesting me Joe...

About Totto´s suggestion: First of all, congratulations for your models (I saw them on your web). Did you have some kind of trouble with this connection system?
I had this same system on my Benzin Traiiner and it never failed, besides it´s the only connector of the electronics that has a safety connection system. It has the sized-diameter connectors too, and it´s very good for its pourpose (supplying maximum intensity to starting engine). Why do you think I should change them?
I would like you to explain me your opinion, please, because I don´t want doubs when taking off a 14.5 kg chopper.
Greetings

Xavi

PS.
Gracias Gustavo, me alegra que te guste este helicóptero tan diferente
de todos los demás.

Plumbing problem

Hi Xavi, it looks like you have a quick fill on your vent line. If the vent line is plugged no matter how many times you pump the fuel, nothing will go into the tank. Two ways to solve this are: If you put a T fitting on the return line with a plug, or if you want to use the fuel filling valve you should cut another hole in the tank with another fuel bulk head fitting and that will work well too. Hope that helps- Adam

Hello xavi,

Many thanks, well i should of course have explained to you why i dont like those connectors.
On a 3D model I had I suddenly lost power when I was about to startup. During checking the connection it looked ok but when I started to move on the cables the power came back/off again etc. I could not believe it because all looked tight and good. All the cables were ok. Battery switch as well. What caused it was the pin connection. A friend of mine had exactly the same problem. After that I have never used those connections.
(This is quite a long time ago but I guess they are still making the same plugs)

Maybe others have opinions what is the best (safest) plugs /connections to use ?

Multiplex and Deans plugs are very tight and safe connections.

Of course, if you have just good experiences with those just use them.

Wish you all the best during your tests. It’s a really great model !

Best regards
Totto
