e-Electric Motors & Controllers > Castle Creations HV on 13S?

I know the Phoenix 110-HV and 85-HV controllers are good up to 50V, but i was wondering if using 13S packs would damage it.
The nominal voltage would be 48.1V for the majority of the flight, however it is likeley that when first plugged in after charging, the peak voltage would be 53-54V. This would be with no load on, and would obviously drop once the helicopter was in flight.
Would i damage the controller at 13S?

It may or it may not. But, it would not be covered under warranty if if fried. If you don't care about the warranty, best person to ask that question is Bernie at CC. Actually, I would be interested in the result as well for my application.

Just heard back from Joe Ford at CC Support, and he said
Quote "13s lipo will kill it." Unquote
So there you have it, doesnt look like it will do the trick.
Only reason i asked is I was gouing to try 13S on the Dyna-EX as 12s still isnt getting the power i wanted (even with good packs)

That is really odd. We got over 2300head speed with actro 32-3 and 10:1. Make sure your throttle is calibrated correctly at around 115low 95high.

If that doesn't do the trick, seek gear ratio change to 9.0-9.5:1

9.23 to 1 gear ratio (120 main, 13 pinion)
Shame I havnt got another motor to test.
Will try lighter (3700mah) packs (using 5000mah atm)

Have you got a direct link.
I cant find it on their site anywhere.
It would seem strange that they didnt mention this in the reply to my e-mail knowing I was looking for a higher voltage ESC

Found it via another web search, but no links from the CC home page.
