My clutch is engaging when I turn my head, it seems to be aligned properly, any suggestions?

When you turn it backwards is it just turning the clutch bell or the engine itself? Just the bell is normal

Let me clarify - when I move the head the opposite direction that it would normally go when the engine is applying power it engages the drive train, i.e., the engine turns over.

Sounds like your clutch is misaligned or locked up

If the engine is turning over, then no, something's wrong.

One way bearing in clutch bell?

Did you gap the clutch when you glued down your liner?

Couple things you can do - if it's not too tight you can take some sand paper to the liner and remove a little bit of it to free things up. With it being as tight as yours sounds though, that could take some time. You could take a dremel with a sanding tip and work your way around the liner. This would remove more material - you don't want to remove too much, just enough so that that clutch bell will spin freely. A third option, and the one I would use(though I'm sure there will be some who speak adamantly against this) is to start the engine keeping the head from spinning by hold the blade grips tightly. Then bump up the throttle on the radio while still holding the blades grips tightly so that the clutch spins inside the bell. That will burn away some of the clutch material. Do that several times until the clutch does not engage when the engine is idling (or until it just barely engages).

I took it out and it fits fine on the engine with plenty of room -- has to be alignment -- I'll work on it a bit and post the results.

Check the inside the bell. The clutch shoes should not rubb against the top of the bell or against excess glue from the liner.

If the liner was incorrectly glued, it might not be parallel to the shoe, so you might see a gap in the bottom of the bell , but still rubbing on top.

I ran into this problem before and I just flew a couple of times and the wear will fix the problem. This is only if it rubs a little. if its too much , you risk overheating the shoes and damage them ( they loose their elastic properties and break)

Of course if its a missalignment problem: you will only end up replacing liners every couple of flights.
