From the aurora thread.

Glad I never got one and getting a 700N instead. May not be much better but sure will be cheaper.

working on one now that I was asked to build and it is a total disaster
The head is not overly complex. Other than slightly different size grips and more delta options and adjustable timing, it is an MA Extreme head design. Sure it works great, it does on my Stratus and every other MA heli for many years now
Canopy looked good also.

But
missing PEM nuts
missing set screws
4 missing bearing blocks for the tail set
tail shaft holes misaligned
thrust bearings for the tail are defective and bind severely
hole in the tail clamp for the tail lever is way off, like 8 or 9 degrees crooked
swashplate ball has play up and down and side to side
not crazy about the airplane type fuel tank fittings either

Also no one is getting back to us and there is no # to call. Heliproz won't help and these are just what I have found thus far.

I want some of those too, but I'd like to see it redesigned to use some different bearings.
The bearings in the plastic grips (forgot what size they are) I found it is impossible to find a replacement bearing that is shielded on both sides.

The Bearings in the kit are shielded on just one side.
So what does a guy do? Put them in with the shield facing so the grease doesnt fly out?

--Or does a guy put the shield facing the inside, so no dirt and grass or whatever gets in there.

And I don't like the huge gap in the plastic grips. I guess the plastic grips were designed with the wide gap so they can fit MAH tail blades or something like that.

lets start by saying DONT fly your new heli yet.

i just test flew mine and she locked up on spool down. the pin thats holds the main shaft to the autorotation hub backed out and the pin jammed against the main frame locking it up.

after we took it apart turns out my main shaft is not threaded correctly. where you thread in the 6mm set screw to lock the pin the set screw locks down short of the pin. at 1st i thought to much lock tight or something like that but it definatly is not threaded correctly. i was able to twist an allen key trying to tighten the setscrew against the pin and the pin would pull right out.

if your heli is built already take something and tap the pin and see if it comes out.

a quick remedy i just did so i can fly it alittle is a dropped a 5mm set screw in the main shaft and tightened the 6mm against that one. now the pin wont come out.

id post this on the avant forum but it takes days to get any kind of response. if my pin came out in the air it would of been devastating.

remember mine felt tight against the pin when it really wasnt. PLEASE check your ASAP.

Aldo

And a few others.
Looks like the perfect heli that took years to come out isn't so perfect afterall.
Makes buying the 700N for a cheaper price with cheaper parts and plenty of aftermarket service a better bet.
I am kinda glad it didn't show up on time.

Hello Helinutnz

Kevin phone me tonight and said the 700s are coming.
Maybe here end of the week or early next week.
May have to take time off work to build the 700.
