Did anybody have issues putting them together? It's basically the last thing I have left to do but I stripped one of them out trying to get the gap together between the two halves.

Is everybody running them with a little gap between the two grip halves?

When is the metal upgrade coming out? I am not impressed by these plastic grips.

I want some of those too, but I'd like to see it redesigned to use some different bearings.
The bearings in the plastic grips (forgot what size they are) I found it is impossible to find a replacement bearing that is shielded on both sides.

The Bearings in the kit are shielded on just one side.
So what does a guy do? Put them in with the shield facing so the grease doesnt fly out?

--Or does a guy put the shield facing the inside, so no dirt and grass or whatever gets in there.

And I don't like the huge gap in the plastic grips. I guess the plastic grips were designed with the wide gap so they can fit MAH tail blades or something like that.

The best way to assemble the grips is to hold them together with your fingers/clamp/whatever, and snug the bolts. If you use the bolts to draw the halves together they will strip. Assembled properly they work well. The other thing to note is the spacing is 8.6 mm, not 9 mm which is MA and others. Keep that in mind when rounding up spacers.

Edit: there should be no gap when the bolts are snug. You can still use yours, just use a longer bolt with a nut and rebalance accordingly.

Well I agree that these plastic grips suck. On a heli like this you would expect alloy grips right

I have not had any problems with my plastic grips, they work absolutly fine for me and I am in no hurry to beg/ask for an upgrade.

there is no need for metal tail grips on this heli, plastic ones do the job just fine, are cheaper to produce and less expensive when you crash.

I like flashy shiny aluminum.

If I considered black plastic to be bling, then I would bling the helicopter out in all black plastic.

...But since black plastic isn't blingish enough for me, Then I guess Im gonna have to go with the shiny aluminum, when available.

Mine went together fine, I think you just need to tighten the screws in an orderly fashion so as not to lever one side.

Agreed that aluminum bling is nice, but I also like the way the two half's clamp the bearings in place, I have absolutely no lateral slop. How long they stay like that only time will tell.

To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction

I got the replacement grips yesterday and they worked perfect. I still feel on a heli like this, they should have an option for a metal upgrade though.

I think those tail grips were the reason your swash came apart.
