Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > RAPTOR 30 TT39 temperature-settings

Hello everybody..
I am Roberto from Italy, i am new here..and i am a beginner.. ;-)
I have a problem with Raptor 30V2 with TT39 engine.
I use 15-85 fuel /no nitro. The friend of mine that owned the Rappy before, burned that fuel for over one year without problems.
Now we bought a thermometer to check engine temp
setting needles "rich" we have max temp 108 C, but the engine is too rich and does not run fine-..
With a more lean setting, the engine works fine, but temperature reaches about 130 C(max temp)
I think it is too hot.. what do you think about?
Wich are basic settings of tt39 needles to start from? and wich is the "right" temp for this engine?
Thank you very much!
Roberto

celsius or fahrenheit?

130 degrees of celsius is way too hot but fahrenheit is cool!

Ever thought about running 30% nitro and make it easier on yourself to tune the engine? I have run 30% in mine from the get-go and no problems tuning. I test temps by touching the backplate to see how warm it is.

Yes.. i will add some nitro , to see the difference
But i would like to know if someone is using no nitro fuel, and what is the correct temperature level for TT39, generally speaking..
Thanks
Roberto

What fuel are you talking about?

Petrol
Methane
or what, as far as I know most people use nitromethane fuel which is 5% to 30% nitro content but most important is oil content for cooling a heli should be about 18% and upwards..

Good temp should be about 170 deg max fahrenheit....

30% nitro fuel will help your power and as more oil for cooling!!!

Well.. it should be 85% methyl alcohol, and 15 %
castor oil..
If i translated well in english with google translate... ;-)
Thanks

Hi Roberto,

That engine likes to run a little hotter. I used to run mine around 110C, with ambient temps around 30-32C. That was with 15% CP. It yields decent power at those temps and engine is tough.

Bigger engines run at cooler temps. With the price of nitro fuel in Europe, you might as well buy a bigger engine if you need more power.

Sorry.. CP is short for Cool Power, a brand of fuel from the US.

What is the price of nitro fuel in Europe? Maybe then we will know why you don't use fuel with nitro content. Just wondering....

30% nitor fuel in the states is about $25 a gallon....

Hi..
Here in italy
Cool Power - Miscela 30% nitro LOW SMOKE, Hely; 1 Gallone (3,78 litri)
euro 38.90

38.90 *1.59= 61.85 USD a gallon..

perhaps this is the reason why.. ;-)
It is a pity that i cannot buy nitro fuel in the USA..

However most people here use nitromethane

I think at those prices I would have to look into getting a gasser! :-)

Update

Ok.. last days here in italy it was very hot..
i have tried several settings on tt 39 , but i found that.. in order to work properly, (not too rich, because the engine would not run fine), temperature reaches about...140 C (max temp) with 20% oil: 15% castor oil +5 % syntetic oil.
Do you think it is still safe for the engine?
Thanks
Roberto

If you're engine is tuned right you should be able to land and put your finger on the backplate and hold it there. If you can't it's too lean!

no need for 30%

I run 10% and 10% only. Promoted longer engine life and cooler temps wit gobs of power. Ive never had a problem

How high does it go? How fast does it go? Huh huh huh huh???!!!!
