Main Discussion > DX7 with 401 gyro

Ok guys, its time I need some more help. When I power up my 500 it flies really good, its stable. The only problem is when I move the tail is swings back. For example, if i go right, it goes the right direction and then goes back the other way a little. If anyone can help, that would be great. I am running a DX7 Airplane version with a 401 gyro on it.

Thanks in advance

When my T 450 did the same thing (it acted like the tail was spring loaded) I had the gain set too low. I increased it to about 80 and started working my way down to 74.

The Airplane DX7 may make a difference that I do not know about.

Hope this helps

Finally got past the sweating palms!!!!!!

the heli and air version are essentially the same. The only differences between the two are that the air version comes with airplane mode preselected, while the heli version comes with heli mode preselected. Also, the air and heli versions have a few switches in different locations. To the best of my knowledge, the heli and air version have the same exact software.

On top of your 401, there's a gain adjustment, the numbers in percentage, put more gain on it until the tail wags, then back down on it till the wag stops.

Try adjusting the delay on the gyro. The manual says something about too much delay and the tail will drift some after stopping. The faster the servo the less delay.

actually, the 401 only has remote gain. The delay pot on the gyro is not the same as gyro gain.
you need to use the "gyro sens" in the DX7 to adjust the gain.

You might want to head over to Helifreak and check out some of Finless's vid's... (I'm in trouble now! lol)

I don't know what 401 you have, But it has gain and delay on it. I think you better review the vid yourself!

What servo are you using in the tail?
What you describe is call bounce back and can be caused by two things.
A non ditgal servo will not react as fast as a digital servo . The delay in the gyro is to compemnsate for a slower servo. With a ditagal servo set it to 0. Ajust it as needed....
The second thing that I have seen is when some people let go of the stick and let it snap back to center. When It does this the servo will try to make the same movement as the stick with a back and forth motion to find center.
