Gasser Model RC Helicopters > bent blade bolt causes

So i took the MA 1005's blades off and both the blade bolts are bent. What gives? The blades fit the grips, and they were tight (enough.)
No damage, no 3d stuff.
Thoughts?

Maybe, i dont have a tach, but it is spinning pretty good. Comparing to a known helo with 1700, its close to that i would guess. Guess i need a tach....

Get a GV1 and a Stator Gator that way you have a Gov and dont need a tach

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly better than I can pilot them

I wouldn't guess with a gasser. In some cases the blades are bigger and heavier then those on nitro helis so there is more strain on the blades. If you bent the bolts it's safe to say a tach would good thing to get.

Good luck with the gasser, they'er fun.

Are you using the correct bolts ? Some after market bolts are cheap and soft.

Bent blade bolts aren't unusual with 4mm bolts like the 1005 came with. They'll end up banana shaped after a while with higher headspeeds (say 1850 or above). That's why MA changed to a 5mm bolt a while back. They're not going to break when they bend, just change them out, and the next time you replace your blades (or if your blades have a bushing to allow 5mm to be used), buy 5mm bolt hole blades, and drill out the holes in your grips to use 5mm bolts.

Eury is right on.
As for headspeed, look into the EagleTree systems. Mine monitors head speed and engine temp, Battery voltage, even altitude. Plus I bought the option that sends the data realtime to a display unit mounted on my transmitter tray. Probably saved my Zenoah when the temp started rising due to a loose carb causing a leanout mixture.

Bolts

I've run my 1005 gasser with the stock 4mm bolts with SAB 710's as fast as 1800 and didn't bend the bolts ever. If you guys are bending bolts you must be going faster than that on head speed.

The speed was a guess. You can call MA, they will tell you that the bolts bend due to higher headspeeds, and you can drill out the grips for 5mm.

Well I checked my main bolts on my 1005 . the 4mm bolts were alittle tweaked!! The highest head speed I have run was 1900 briefly and went back to 1800 or 1850. I am going to upgrade to 5mm soon.

I understand that bolt bending is also caused by using plastic blade grips, that they are flexing enough to ALLOW the bolts to bend.

Has anyone had bolts bend with aluminum grips?
