I tried to start my R90 for the first time its used.It wouldn't start. It has a os91 cspec engine with omi carb mod so it uses the back pressure from motor from what i understand. When i pulled the fuel line off the carb and cranked it to see if it was pumping fuel it was only pumping on the first crank. If I continue to crank it no more fuel comes out untill I stop cranking and try again and then a little fuel pumps out on the first crank and then nothing. My question is do the engines that uses back pressure setup off the bottom of the engine need a check valve? Shouldn't fuel come out the whole time you are cranking

now what

ok I changed the fuel lines when I got this and didn't notice this little check valve (doesn't look like one) what line does it go on the one from back plate to tank or from tank to carb and do you have to vent the tank somehow when you fuel,Everett

Well I sold the xcell earlier this summer and now primarily fly the xtreme and a trex 450. I love both of them but like throwing the 450 around better just because of the pucker factor and dont want to put such a nice bird in (xtreme)!!! Hopefully I will make it to Virden to fly with you all sometime soon.....
Ok....Im done hijacking your thread.

Thanks to those who tried to help

I think I got it, check valve as close to back plate nipple as possible and yes you do have to vent to fuel

If your using the small black checkvalve that goes in the fuel tubing, make sure it is close to the backplate and that it is lined up well so it's not snagging internally. It's also worth doing a pressure test on your fuel system, ie, if after turning it over a few times, does the system maintain it's pressure over 30 seconds or so ? A leak is bad news.
