Gasser Model RC Helicopters > X-Cell Gasser With 33" Boom

I was talked into going to the 33" tail boom on my X-Cell Gasser so that I may use longer blades. I have it all installed but am to the point of having to hook up the tail rotor rod.

For those that have done this, what should I do to make the hook-up?

Should I go to a boom mounted tail rotor servo and cut down the carbon rod and hook it up that way.

Or...

Use a bellcrank similar to the Fury and hook it up that way.

Or...

Find a longer tail rotor control rod and use that to replace one of the two rods that are stock increasing the length by 1 1/2"....

Thanks

If it's not a problem with balance I'd go with the boom mounted servo and carbon rod. Lot's better on todays gyro servo combinations.

Go with the boom mounted servo. I bought the Fury 33" boom kit. I did not buy it to install a longer blades. I still have the 690mm blades on and I find the bird is more stable in FF and the CF boom just look cool. Good luck.

Nolan,

There ya go again.... Thinking I am using one of tadays gyro systems instead of the JR 1000 gyro and JR 2700G servo I have on this machine...

Also, the concerne I have with a tail boom mounted servo is that it would only be a couple inches away from the heat of the rear mounted exhaust and it's close proximity of the servo and its lead to the spark plug on the engine. I don't know if it would cause interferance....

Been using a rear servo mount for five years. No problems with heat or interference.

OK, I am glad you ansered that one for me then unless you have PCM and it is hiding it that is (I use just PPM).

It sounds like I need to make a trip to the LHS with boom in hand and see if they have a boom servo mount that will fit.
