Should I use blue loctite installing the pinion gear to the clutch bell?? How do you do it there?
Thanks Cassat

You can use loctite but it is not necessary to use because the torque of the engine will keep the pinion gear tight....I don't use it and never had an issue in over 300 flights with 3 different Raptors 30, 50 and a 90 all the same design.

Me neither, no locktite and pinion/bell interface has been snug for over two years on my Titan.

Till your engine fires backwards, doesn't hurt to put a couple of drops on just for piece of mind.

I agree with Monk, really what do you have to lose by putting a small dab of blue on. I admit its a challenge to get the pinion back out, but a little heat goes a long way.

This would only be a problem if you tried to fly it with the engine running backwards .You will know it as soon as it fires that is running backwards and if you hit the throttle then it may spin up with enough tourque to break loose the clutch bell at that point blue loctite wont help its only for vibration Red is what you will need in that case. .....as soon as you get it running the right way it will there is no problem....never been an issue even with backwards starts once in a while.

The pinion's sometimes hard enough to remove without Loctite, so I wouldn't bother.

Don't think you could even get it to spin up backwards, and really no torque would be transmitted anywhere if it fired backwards (except the starter shaft, I guess) due to the one-way bearing on the MS.

The main gear spins but not the blades because of the one way and when it does fire up backwards a beginner probably won't know what the problem is and be revving it up trying to figure it out. You don't need to use locktite but it's metal on metal so what the hell

Remember it always better to have it and not need it the to need it and not have it....use it it , wont hurt anything and it cheap insurance.

Oh well, blue is on already. So thanks for the response. Could use a close up photo of that elevator grey lever with the two links going to it though........

Be happy to post a pic but not sure exactly what your looking for. The elevator lever is grey but only has 1 link going to it, or are you referring to the 2 black links going up to the swash front and back?

Swoop,
Just the elevator control linkage please. I think it is only one link as you say....a bit dark to see in the manual.

I just realized that your asking about a 30. My Titan has push/pull which is a slightly different config. For what its worth, heres a pic of the Titan's

Hope this didn't happen in flight
Bummer, looks like you will have to buy the whole elevator control assembly (PV0013)
