Ok, I just finished my 500. I need some major help with the programming part of it. When i turn on my transmitter, everything is level. All the links are the same length as what the book tells me and the servos are at 90 degrees. I have one problem. I have been told that my pitch is supposed to be at 0 percent pitch when the throttle is half way. its not. my pitch curve on my dx7 is set to the book as well. I am needing some help here. If anyone can help out, that would be great.

Thanks
Seth

Well at mid stick is your pitch curve at 50%?

Sethpilot;

As a general rule, most heli pilots will set up their pitch curves so that at center stick, your pitch will be 0 degrees and your pitch curve will be 50%. The washout arms should be level and the servo to link should be 90 degrees. Full up would be set at 100%, full down is 0%. If you check your pitch, you will have something around +12 at the top and -12 at the bottom. That's a bunch of pitch for a new heli pilot and I don't necessarily recommend that you leave your radio at 0 25 50 75 100. Try 10 30 50 70 90. That's what my idle1 is set to and the collective is a little smoother and easier to control. Normal mode is 35 42.5 50 70 90. That will help you to not slam into terra firma if you panic. Does this help?

Hello; Heliproz?... I need to order more parts.

The first step is to set up the links as per the manual, then see if you get equal travel negative and positive pitch, +12 _ -12. If you have great, if not you need to adjust the three swash links till you get equal travel up and down. When you have acheived this then check at centre stick, you have 50% in 50% out on your radio and then check your pitch is around 0, Then adjust for zero degrees with the pitch rods, till both blades have the same pitch. Then adjust your curves in the radio to give you the pitch you require for your flying. Have a search on the web for set up videos for the trex 500, they are very good.

The reason you are probably not getting the correct pitch values is because there are 3 different types of servo's spec'd for the trex 500 and they all have the output arms in different places therefore the pushrod lengths will be different for each servo. The manufacturer gives a ball park figure to get you going you have to work from there. Sometimes the are spot on sometimes they are a bit out.

Good luck
