Ok.. I have 3 gyros.. I know my JR 410t gyro is the best of the 3, but in order.. which are the better of the remaining 2???

I have the JR 410t, Telebee 701 HH, and a Helimax piezo.

I'm guessing JR, then Telebee, then helimax???

Thanks

Thanks.. Now I just need to study up on how to setup the telebee My learner chopper has the Helimax gyro in it (came with it).. would you recommend that I rip it out and put the telebee in there??? I want to save the JR for my Concept since that is a bit more advanced than the Nexus's...

If i am not mistaken helimax is a non HH gyro i would replace it with the telebee but keep in mind that if you are still learning it would be beneficial to stick to non HH up to and including loops and rolls just because you will get more experience with a non HH vs HH. I look at it this way if you go to HH you will never want to go back to non HH BUT your basic skills will not improve since you will be relying on the HH gyro more but what if it fails will you know how to get out of a maneuver without HH? just a thought of course gyros now-a-days rarely fail its basically up to you if you dont want to worry about the tail in flight go with the telebee sure it drifts when the temperature changes but its a great product for the money

Darn good idea.. Maybe I'll leave it well enough alone for now..

I do however have a question, which led me to asking which gyro to use.... When the heli is just about to break ground, the tail wags side to side, unless I give some tail rotor pitch one way or the other.. Am I right in assuming that the gain may be turned up too high and it's picking up the vibration caused by the training gear???

its definitely a posibility, since vibration in a heli is impossible to eliminate completely the training gear will resonate at different frequencies. this could affect the gyro even though it is isolated from vibration turn your gain down and see if that helps also it maybe possible as the heli is about to lift off one of the rods on the training gear brushes the ground and catches something for a brief second that would make it wag too since you are not lifting the heli straight up there will always be a slight angle or you may need to check your revolution mixing

I'll give that a whirl.. When I first tried it, I had the training gear rubber banded on tight, which was a mistake.. It was picking up vibration, causing the rods to shake, which transferred all that vibration throughout the airframe... The whole chopper was shaking like mad.. set it back down and it fianally calmed down.... Thought the rotors were out of balance.. they were balanced perfectly still.. Tracking was within 1/8" so I don't think that was a major cause either.. Think it was the training gear.. Wondering if the servo could be too slow??? It is a standard Futaba 3003??? Would running a 5 cell rx pack hurt the gyro at all?? I use 5 cell packs in almost all my planes now.. makes things much faster and more precise.

DO NOT use a 5 cell pack on a heli without a regulator you may fry your gyro even if it says it will work with 6 volts. If you are still on training gear you dont need fast servos, standard servos are more than fine. When you do start flying around and start doing airplane style aerobatics and beyond, its time to get digital servos. The heli will vibrate more with training gear even if the training gear is securely tied down. The wood will always flex (although i did see 1 heli with training gear that almost had no vibration) Almost being the key word here

Thanks for the warning on the rx pack.. I guess it's always best to ask!!!! The Helimax training gear I have is carbon rod, but fastening it securely was my problem.. It transferred every vibration to the entire frame and chopper, the low level vibration kind.. nasty.. I put it back on loosly with rubber bands, and presto.. much less vibration... Still some, but then again it didn't look like a jackhammer in the air anymore.

Thanks again!!!
