I found a Tektronics 485 scope for 90 bucks from a local company that was dumping them. (they are all out) so they can be found. I believe it is a 350mhz scope. I don't use it that much but it is nice to have around.

You should be able to pick up a 2nd hand Tektronix scope for a good price. Very good scopes.

your comment makes me think that I should check the compatibility before making a purchase. Have you had any specific compatibility issues?

Always check for compatibility...its a must.

I have not had any on my side but have read that some have....usually driver related and not OS...so its the o-scope makers problem.

Some offer free demo download trials with mock values...gives you a chance to play prior to buying.

Best of luck!

Pico Scope sounds nice and I'll try to run their demo software.

Also, I've looked at a huge selection of analog (I'm not sure if they are analog, but from the looks of them) used Tektronix scopes. they are very big and heavy units, but go up to 100Mhz and 2 to 4 channels for only 150-500 dollar range. I'm still not sure if this is a good choice.

Another interesting thing I found is called a BitScope or something similar that can be purchased as a DIY kit or assembled unit. Any info on this one?

demo, "shemmo", you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, pay twice, you only cheat yourself if you do so.

You do want it to actually function for at least a couple of months, don't you? Old $500 scopes aren't supported anymore, they are just "traded" from one to another on ebay.
