Just a reminder to watch your accounts carefully so you dont become another statistic like I did. Someone tried to ring up several hundred dollars of stuff on my debit card today and fortunately my bank caught it within an hour or so. I'm posting about it here because I am 99.99% sure that my debit card info was leaked from a RC Heli based manufacturer in which I ordered some merchandise. I wont post the name of that business, Ill just say that their practices had me worried about this when ordering and now I know I will never order from them again.

Well that sucks!

See if your bank offers "single use" credit card numbers like this.

Best protection I've used is by using Paypal to purchase anything online. That way, your credit card info does not get stolen.

Yes it is but this purchase only allowed me to use a Visa. National city caught it and held payment. They told me the funds should be back in my account by tomorrow morning.

I will never be able to be 100% sure unless they catch the guy that tried to rip me off which probably wont happen. I'm not sure I want to go and slander a company with out being completely certain.

A little update. Monday after my banks computer system was back on line I found that one of the charges in the amount of almost $300 still remained from a charge to some Zune website. I called my bank and they said that I have to fill out a form. Since every bank in the state closes at 5pm I have to go there during my large time. Yippie. Of course after I drive all the way to the bank in ridiculous traffic, the bank is closed due to a power outage. Fing fantastic. So I call this zune website, and explain my situation and fortunately they are more then happy to work with me but I gotta call them back later today with more information. I really wish I could figure out where this piece of scum lives.

I got it a while back too

A couple of years ago I made an order to an online heli company advertised here. Hadn't used that card in almost a month prior to that order. The next day I had a whole load of stuff charged to it from online places all over the US. Stereo equipment and car parts. The very first charge came from the same state that the heli company is in.

Coincidence? Who knows, but I don't buy from them anymore.

I'm trying to get the shipping address from the zune place but they wont give it to me. Hopefully my bank will get involved but I think this dirt bag will probably get away scott free.

I really think both of you should post the company's name.

Put it another way.

If your best buddy was about to order from them, what would you tell them ?

Post that here pls.

Thanks guys. Sucks to hear about the CC theft.

I don't want to get into posting the heli company's name here. I firmly believe that some turd at the heli company either did it or took the numbers and gave them to someone else. Just seemed awful coincidental that I make an order after not using the card for about a month and then get ripped off the same day. The order was a phone order I made while travelling back home so the parts would be waiting for me.

I have not heard or seen any other public dissatisfaction with the company regarding questionable transactions so I choose not to post their name and hope I am wrong with thinking it was them.

Best Regards

This sort of criminal act supersedes concerns about protecting the merchant, especially if both of you got stung after transactions with the same store.

If that's the case, please let us know which one it was.

I have to agree with Gimbal. This type of activity should not be allowed and the identity of the company should not be hidden from the rest. There are no if's, and's, or but's about it. Credit card fraud has been committed and must be exposed and stopped.

I've been taken twice now in 2 years. Both times were on my business checking account debit card. The first time was a new card used 1 time only at Amazon.com It was pretty easy to pinpoint it. The card was used to send 2 x $2000 western union transactions to the UAE. The second time happened 2 weeks ago. This time, I don't know which retailer it was. Someone went on a spending spree and bought $5k worth of tattoo guns and ink, along with some clothing and computer parts. Every online retailer that we called about the charges was willing to share every bit of info they had on the purchase. The current scam looks like they order the items and have them shipped to a bad address. The then call the shipping company after the items are shipped and change the shipping address to a valid address. All of the items purchased on my card shipped overseas. My bank will refund the charges in 90 days.

We both were ripped of from two different places. Let me remind everyone that I have not comfirmed this particular website of being the culprit it is only suspected to be. The website in which everything was ordered from said they could not find my debit card on file(BS ) and would not share any information with me about it.
