Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Weird GV-1 ZAP problem.

Weird problem here:

Running a ZAP TX and R149DP Rx, GV-1, Fromeco 2400 Rx pack with Arizona reg, 9254 throttle servo.

Setup – Separate engine tickover independently controlled by Left Hand Rotary Dial when in Throttle Hold condition.

Couple of weeks ago the RD ceased to function when starting the motor, (The engine is always started in TH condition). This was an intermittent fault, as sometimes it would work, and then it wouldn’t. Checked the sensor output on the GV-1 screen and only showed a 7-8% reading, no higher and no lower. Clear case of faulty sensor….bearing in mind the GV-1 was switched off.

The sensor was replaced, and all was well…….until today. When an identical problem was identified. Same sensor reading as before (7 or 8%). On this occasion I thought I would set-up a throttle curve. The GV-1 was not switched on. (Although still connected) This started off quite well, so with suitable headspeed the heli would lift off and hover for 15 seconds or so. The throttle would then close itself, so auto’d back to the ground. The Throttle stick would not alter the throttle arm at all. On checking the transmitter’s SRV screen the output from the TX appeared correct for TH and non-TH conditions, when operated by both the stick and RD..

At the moment there appear to be four suspects. The GV-1 control box, sensor, throttle servo, or even the RX.

Has anyone had anything similar happen or could offer any useful explanation as to what is actually going on?

Thanks

Pete
