yah TrexN8... if this is the case how are there so many Trex Owners that are now using Beam replacement parts to get rid of the crappy Trex tail and the sloppy swash with the new Beam models... there are nothing but rave reviews over these items especially when used on the Trex.

And you can bet Align is watching for the V3...

I've had a few T-rex 450 SEv2s, and a Beam. I prefer the Beam. It feels more precise in the air, tracks through maneuvers better, and the drive system is freer, which results in better autos. Parts are cheap, it survives crashes better, and is easier to work on. The T-rex is a great heli, and flies very well, but other than the wide parts availability of the T-rex, I can't think of any area where the T-rex is better.

Didnt anyone dislike the bearing arrangement in the see saw assembly?
On the T-rex they are flanged bearings that are captured in the alluminum assembly. On the Beam the non-flanged bearings are only glued in and if the glue works loose or is not glued correctly in the first place the see saw will slide around. I found the overall quality of bearings in the kit to be worse than Align bearings in my opinion.

I will say that the swash design is outstanding and is an improvement over the Align unit. The bearing in the swash seems robust as well. The tail on the other had is nothing to shake a stick at. Impressive design but I did not like that both bearings had to be glued in place (even the one with the tiny screws that I thought were supposed to hold the bearing in place). So if you are to change a belt or tail shaft the bearing must be heated and removed then re-glued. Also the pith lever mount is held with a very tiny phillips head screw and the mount itself seems to be crudely machined. I think the worse part of the tail design is that there is no flange inside of the tail pitch slider and if the glue comes loose or whatever, the whole slider will depart from the bearings resulting in a loss of tail control.

Masters? How about Bert K. and Alan Szabo. There are quite a few others that have been flying the T-rex too. Here is one of Bert's.

Okay smart guy, why do you supose Bert and Alan are flying an Align 450SE v2? Could it be hmmmm maybe .... SPONSORSHIP?!?!?! Uhhhhh .... hint, "TEAM ALIGN"!!!! I'm a big fan of both guys. Alan is one reason why I got into helis to begin with. But, I'd venture to say that either would just about rather eat broken glass than fly the cute little 325mm swingin 450's! I seriously doubt they're hangin out weekends flyin SE V2's and talkin em up because they're such big fans.

Tell you what, buy me some equipment and/or PAY ME, and I'll fly anything! Really, I will! For real! Please! Pretty please?!?! ... with sugar?

Anyway,

Can I fly at that level or anything close? No! Like I said, I am happier with my E4 than I was with the Trex. Why do you feel the need to argue? I've owned a Trex 600N Pro, a Trex 500, and a Trex 450SE V2. They are great helis. I'm not into them.

Sorry didnt mean to bother anyone but the topic of the post was beam vs. t-rex and I thought I would just add an unbaised opinion because I have spent a lot of time on both helis.

I never said "why" they were flying a Rex or who is sponsered by who or whatever, my only point was the flying characteristics of the machine since everyone seems to think the T-rex is slower in the head

You may not understand but the professional pilots that I know enjoy flying most any sized heli that flies well and like the smaller helis for indoors and night flying stuff. Furthermore most sponsered pilots will not fly a machine just because it is free or discounted, see some have integrity in what they fly and recommend and just because it is free or discounted they will not lie to someone just to sell a heli. That does nothing for a pilots long-term reputation. Plus the fact that serious pilots do not want parts failure and will not fly a heli that they think is dangerous or might fail in competition or a demo.

If you would fly anything for money or free equipment I think that pretty much shows what type of person you are. Maybe I should buy you some Walkera stuff and you can be a Team Walkera pilot

Again, I am not argueing and I really dont feel the need to make a fun hobby an arguement. I just wanted to share my opinion and real life experience. THE TOPIC IS: Beam vs T-rex so I dont think that I was out of line for posting in the Beam forum especially since I own both. I am not singing any song and never was I pushing the T-rex, only supplying information.

I just looked at your profile, You just joined the end of last month. How much experience could you have?

What does that have to do with anything? So he's been a keyboard jockey for a month, it has no bearing on how much he knows about helis. I guess I must know twice as much as you, as I've been a member here twice as long as you have. Well it does show that you have been involved longer and potentially have more exposure and experience than I do no doubt about it.

We are talking about someone that registered 23 days ago not 1709 like yourself. It shows that at least you have been around the hobby for a little while longer than possibly a month. I personally would trust the opinion of someone that has been around longer, even if all I judge it by is how long they have been registered. That is a part of the reason they have the ratings. Everyone gets way to defensive. The topic is : beam vs. t-rex. Maybe you guys should not let anyone post topics like that if there is going to be such a negative and defensive response. I am done posting in this section and keep an eye out for my second beam for sale here.
I have wasted enough time here, my original intentions were to discuss the differences of the 2 helis not get into a pissing contest.

I have been deep into RC since 1982 and owned a 4 channel Tx well before that. The RR join date has no definitive bearing on ones RC savvy.

Perhaps the statement you posted that went something like..there are not many advanced or master level pilots flying the Beam rubbed some the wrong way. For every paid pilot, there are many highly skilled "master" pilots out there. The Beam is new and has no distribution network yet in place like Align products has. There may be a few bugs and growing pain issues to be dealt with too.

Demanding to see videos from others when you bring none to the table is also condescending.

Personally, I will never be a hot shot pilot, but I know a quality initial offering when I see it. There is always room for improvment.

For someone that is not wanting to argue, you brought a lot of attitude in the door. Age and maturity usually takes care of that in the real world. The anonymity of the keyboard may change some aspects of important "character building" facts of life.

I do this heli thangy because it's fun and it relaxes me ... sometimes. And I have friends here. I also have an intrinsic need to do highly detailed work.

But, for me, this not a business, a way of life, or a relgion. I am here to have fun and share knowlege and experience. This is not rocket science! It's heli science gumbydammit!
