After Market Accessories > Raptor Metal Blade Grip Installation

I got a set of the main rotor metal blade grips for my Raptor 30 in from Cyberheli and I have run into a problem installing them on my raptor. I noticed that after I installed all the bearings and thrust collar into a blade grip and tighten the two set screws on the inside of the blade grip, the blade grip does not want to move freely on the spindle shaft! I can actually feel notches or clicks as I move the blade grip up on down on the spindle shaft. If I back out the two set screws a little then the blade grip will move as it should on the spindle shaft. I am wondering if the problem is that I have the two set screws too tight? I also thought that maybe one of the set screws was in farther than the other so it is binding the outer bearing to one side further than the other. In my opinion the set screws should be as tight as possible. I figured I would post to see if anyone else ran into this problem whhen installing the blade grips. I am planning on taking the blade grips back apart this weekend to see if I missed something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Marty

Dear marty,

Chances are you have uneven length on the sides. Try knocking on the loose side lock nut gently and that should loosen up the other side.

had the same problem, was due to century grips having a 'u' cut at the area where the screws went in (quick grips are flat in this area), I custom fit a washer and all was well. Have several hours on it, is ok.
