I know it's been beat to the ground but can't get the Helifreak vid to work. Picked up this Helimax balancer yesterday and I don't think it's what I really want

Would the KSJ be a better tool?

I'm not sure what you are really looking for. It appears to be fairly decent as balancers go. But if you want the one many consider to be the best out there, look at the Koll Rotor Pro.

Looked at the Koll, understand it's worth the $$$ but wanted something in between for awhile. The H-max seems like a decent unit but never heard of the KSJ until after I bought it.

Just trying to get a balance and CG of the blades and don't want a flimsy unit or inaccurate. If the H-max works then I'll use it.

I have the Helimax balancer... what's wrong with it? Its works great! Combine that with a scale that will do 1/10 gram measurements, and you're set.

I suppose nothing

Just wanted a consensus before I put it together. I do have a lab scale that goes to 1/10,000 ounce, the woodies were actually only .002oz different, not too bad.

The "teeter totter" method is okay but this only addressed the
blades by themselves.. Sure you can find the C/G and the balance
BUT if you want to get it right balance the entire rotor head as
a assembly...
For this you will need a Hi-Point balancer...
This will allow you to find how the entire head balances out and
not just the blades. It will encompass everything in from the blade
grips or just the flybar and paddles by themselves...

Du-Bro products makes a "reasonably priced" one for less than
$30.00! You would use a spare main shaft on the rollers and
this will allow you to find the heavy point on the rotor head....

I have enclosed a link to the product below....
Though they show it for a "prop" it is easily used for helo shafts!
Refer to "Rays Videos" on the use...
Gram scales are the best, this is second....

I don't know why the scale will read that many decimals in ounces and I actually believe the last digit is only in .5 increments...nonetheless it's scary accurate/sensitive, it reads grams as well

wouldn't be a lab scale unless it did right.

I use it for reloading but it comes in handy in many instances.
