Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Servo Bearing Stud 115-73 on Futaba S9252

I was giving my Spectra-G a thorough bench inspection (novel idea) and noticed that the servo wheel on the elevator servo (Futaba S9252) had an unusual amount of "play" when I rocked it perpendicular to the brass servo bearing stud (MA115-73). I took off the servo support along with the bearing stud and inspected the splines on both the servo wheel and plastic post. I then inserted a regular servo wheel retention screw into the servo post. Result, little to no play at all.

The servo screw has a course thread similar to a drywall screw since it is threading into plastic. The bearing stud has a machine screw thread which is more suited for a metal servo post (similar to the JR 8311 servos on my Stratus).

Question is does Miniature sell a "drywall thread" version of the bearing stud or should I consider replacing the plastic center servo post with a metal one (if available for Futaba S9252). I suppose if nothing else I can order new replacement center posts and thread in the bearing stud. The key will be to never thread in a standard servo screw thereby preventing a cross-threading situation.

Probably an overkill post but just trying to prevent from having a servo wheel come off the post...in flight!

Thanks guys

I've only seen machine thread studs. That way the will fit in metal output gears as well as plastic... But a new stud should fix your problem. I had one come loose on me. The stud had actually worn down. The plastic output gear was fine. Try a stud from another servo. If it's snug then just buy a new stud.
