Yeah ok..... I thaught for it to be an argument we had to disagree on things....Maybe you need glasses but I dont disagree that mode 2 is better or that it makes more sense. I just dont want to change myself cause I dont see the advantage. (for me I mean) Im not trying to tell people that they shouldn't change, Do what ever you want to. your flying your heli not anybody else.

your obviously one of those old codgers that goes to the field and talks and talks about utter crap. Has one boring ass flight then talks some more and goes home..... To RR to talk some more crap. Or to put another generator on one of your helis.....GHEY...

Im going to go fly now... have fun in your arm chair old man.

Nope. Both his programming and his cognitive skills are A-Okay.

Gosh I should keep a close eye on this thread!!

Well Like a few others posting here I have done the change so are qualified to judge what is better I have seen new heli flyers learning on mode 1 at our club and personally I think its a CRIME to teach a new heli flyer to start in mode 1! even with planks mode 2 is better, can you imagine trimming up a plank in the air with your left hand while holding a course with your right? makes trimming very relaxed indeed..... I have been learning mode 2 with my copterx up until now due to work comitments (time constraints) and crash value (that rappy is going to cost more in a crash) but yesterday I took the rappy out and put it into some fast figure 8s and it was great!! interesting though for some reason I had to fight a little instinct reverting back to mode 1 I suspect my brain was treating the raptor as it used to be... but this was only for a few seconds and just required a bit more concentration... guess it didnt help the fack it was blowwing very hard yesterday ...some might say too much for a heli... I am not someone who has an endless budget and crashes very often so my learning is slow and secure hey I have the rest of my life to get it all good eh/// plus if I crash thats money that wont be there to get this finished... http://ak-models.com/mm5/merchant.m...&Category_Code=

Not entirely true for everybody chap. I fly mode two on helis but would rather fly mode 1 on planks. It has very little to do with trimming and more to do with removing aileron/elevator interactions caused by humans on a little stick. When you fly an aeroplane from the seat and have a large stick it is easier to place the aeroplane in the position you want and do not have spring pressure to work against. A lot of top RC IMAC fliers fly mode 1. It does not have to replicate full size. But I agree with newbies learning mode two at the start if 3D is going to be their thing. I prefer mode two for heli's.

Cheers

Once in awhile I climb a couple hundred feet up with a plank and select a cruise setting on the throttle. Since ail/elev are on the stick that's NOT the throttle (Mode 2 or 3), sipping a cup of coffee or even answering a call with the other hand is do-able. The rudder's needed for certain maneuvers but it's only essential on landings, so LOTS of time can be spent with 1 hand free.

A few years ago a very good 3d pilot stayed at my house for a funfly here. We started playing this stupid game on xbox that basically used a mode 1 setup. It took a while, but we both got used to it after a couple hours. Saturday morning we went out to fly, and about 10 seconds into my friends flight he dumped his machine. Playing the game the night before had screwed him up big time. We both had a good laugh about it, and I have not played that game on the xbox since. I will not name any names, but we still give each other a hard time over it.

Use what ever mode you like, but what ever you choose, don't try to change back and forth. It is a disaster waiting to happen.

Unfortunately I can't do both tosh. I'd rather fly planks on mode 1. Sorry if the statement was misleading but I fly mode two exclusively on everything and even though I fly fullsize planks for a living I'd rather fly the RC planks on mode 1. Just my preference but brain is not smart enough to do both so i stick with mode 2
