Audacity Models Pantera 50 - Tiger 50 > Just How Strong is the Pantera 50?

I have a hobby shop, and have been selling the Pantera kits for about 2 years now, and I am truly amazed at how strong this heli is. I was recently trying some new tricks, and proceeded to kaos into the ground from about 200 feet up, and then down. I put a 1 foot crater in the ground. I did hit dirt though, not concrete. But for the impact I received main shaft, feathering shaft, boom, struts, 1 main blade was still good, I bent the skids but could have straigtened them if I wanted to, radio tray, and tail links, and popped 1 pitch link, which I found. I have to say no carbon machine would have walked away as good as this one did. Great machine John..

thats what is so silly. The Pantera has to be the most underrated 50 size heli on the market. The carbon 50's would have exploded by comparison. But you almost can't price the Pantera low enough and guys will pay almost anything for carbon.

I bet that the business idea is that people rarely get reason to replace the whole heli so they just keep buying parts and flying them!

LOL, I have had some crashes that would of killed the visa card.
I Have a EVO90 and fly it with fear of a crash.
The last crash I had was a dumb thumb with one of my Pantera's. Main frames ya da de ya da de.
70 bucks and she will fly this weekend (pantera 1 for all of you keeping score)
Hey. You made a one foot creater. How high did she bounce?

My name is Billm. Cough, and I'm a Heli Holic

Wow are they tough? Here is my story..

Dunno? just fell out of the sky about 200+ feet up. (Dumb thumbs?) Hit the ground with a fury. Followed by the almighty chicken dance. By the time it was done I thought it was just a parts heli for the next one. Well I'll tell ya. Anything outside the airframe was a total loss. Anything within the Airframe was completly safe. From that high up, that violent into the ground. All it took was Mains, boom, Main Shaft, 9252 gear set, Landing Gear, and stays.. I was amazed..

Looking forward the my 2nd Pantera, Big Block??

Good points here. I recently crashed my Pantera then a few weeks later my new Vibe 50, both went down in a very similar fashion. The pantera had very minor damage. The Vibe is a total loss. Frames split down the middle, almost every part broken. For those of us that are still crashing (anyone not crashing) the old Pantera is a great, tough choice.

J.D. you didnt lose that Arizona Canopy did you? I've had Bill do my last two Raptor 60 canopies and he does incredible work.

I recently was flying my raptor 60 with a gorgeous piece of glass from Arizona Helis. Something prompted me to remove it in favor of the stock plastic canopy for the evening's flying around. Sure as heck, the PCM locked out while I was in highspeed backwards level flight then crashed as the rotorspeed bled off. Not a lot of damage but the stock plastic canopy was destroyed, not the nice one from Bill. Sometimes you get lucky!

Marty, the Arizona canopy did take some serious bangs. It's not a total loss but it is no longer perfect. I got a backup in from Scott at Ace canopies recently. I do think I'll stick to flying "stock" canopies most of the time now. I'm glad you lucked out with your good canopy. You are right, sometime we do deserve a little break from the heli gods.
