I guess but it had none I already am putting the motor in now.

Edit:

The rubber o-ring is for the back plate I am told. Glad I didn't try to put it in the head. :P

Depends on the fuel. CP and Wildcat usually work best with a total shim of .0016 while Magnum likes .0020. There should be a .008 already installed with an extra .008 and .004 shim in the box.

.0020 ???
James told me the max is .0016, and I'm know running in my SZ .0012 with magnum and cool power.

decimal point is off.

0.016 for two 0.008 shims.

I hope I installed the right one I installed the one from packet 2 along with the one already in the motor. I already have the motor in and thread locked.

The shim in the packet with #2 is the .2mm (.008 inch), so by adding that one with the one preinstalled you get .4mm (.016 inch).

Also you should not be using locktite on the headbolts. Locktite tends to act like a lubricant when it get heated up.

Thanks.

What he said.

The combination of steel bolt with aluminum head works well to keep the bolts tight in place. As the engine heats up, components expand. Due to the delta (difference of the coef. thermal expansion between two dissimilar meterial), the bolts get tighter and tighther as with elevating temp. Basically, aluminum head expands more than steel bolts. At high temps locktite will soften up. BTW, that is how (heating) you remove a stuck bolt due to red locktite.

Does the new align engine have a slot on the crank shaft for a woodruff key?

This was a quote by Ben Minor:

"The engine is a drop fit replacement for the 91 SZ. It will indeed fit better under some shrouds with its conventional heat sink head design.

The ONLY people I can think of that will really need a heads up on this engine are those running MD Machine fans or other keyed flywheel assemblies. The HZ does NOT use a keyed crankshaft.

Darn Guess I will have to either get a new flywheel hub to use with the new engine or I can get a ys91sr. I think I can hold off for another few weeks or so, so more people can get more flights in on the HZ. I wonder if the HZ makes more power than the SR.

What shimming is recommended for Opti-fuel 20% which I believe is similar to Coolpower. Viper Head fitted.

Well you are using .2mm (.008inch) preinstalled shim unless you took it out. Also you are using %15 nitro, which just like on the 91SZ motor works fine with the preinstalled .2mm shim.

Thanks.

ok tcast got me...by NO shims i ment the stock shims..i should have said NO EXTRA shims...and yes on 15%.I let a thunder tiger sponserd pilot fly my 700 today and he said -quote- "if my ys (sr) made this much power on 15% id be running 15% too" so that made me feal pretty good that i had done a good job on tuning and its seems to be a really powerful engine...the way i look at it..if it runs this good on 15 why switch to 30%
