I think if Cliff Hyatt will answer, you will see that Steve Helms and James had a lot to do with the new motor. I would bet Cliff has been testing it for awhile along with JK and AS Jr..

So the Hatori SB18FH is not the right pipe for the OS .91HZ?

Yes it will work and it will work good. However, Hatori is coming out with a pipe specifically designed for the new HZ motor.

Where do I get the head shim I need? A link or a part # would rock.

Thanks

Ah gasket it is called not shim..

So if a Hatori pipe is matched to the OS .91 and you put a different head like Viperhead doesn't that change the shape of the chamber and de-optimize that pipe? Is it optimal back pressure we are after what is so different about the .91HZ F3C that needs a new pipe?

Nope. You have to deal with Assurance. That should be reason enough to stick with the OS and why I never understood the fascination with Align engines in the U.S.

Maybe it was the $95 difference in price between the two.

Still not enough to make me have to deal with Assurance and their crappy customer service

I love Align I am not delusional to think it is a BMW it is what it is. Align finds a way for guys like me to be able to afford to fly and crash. The allure of Align is parts availability and decent quality at a price a father of two youngsters can endure.

My OS .50 Align motor is taking a hell of a pounding without complaint! My Align OS .91H is one sexy motor I assembled the fan and carb on it last night I was like a proud papa!

sold the Aurora because you know what it is now and was not all the impressed I guess so now here you are Again over in the Align forum. Why don't you stay where you belong. I had nothing but top notch customer service from Align. Just because no one can please you dose not mean there crappy. So why don't you tell us the REAL truth into why you want to sell you Avant without even getting it done or flying it for that matter???? And don't give us the B.S of the N9 deal. I am not buying it. Here is the biggest Avant cheerleader and now he is selling before he even flew it????

flew my 700 today with the new hp..got 4 tanks through it and started leaning it out some, mine runs really smooth, the little rubber deflector on my exhaust dose not even vibrate,it has soooo much power even disgustingly rich...and on cool power 15% the only issue i have is the tail jumps side to side every once in a while...but it seems like its only when the engine hicups or misses a beat for a split second...ill see as i get it really tuned in

dude..wheres my heli?????ama#902014

OOH and

Dont worry abut the warranty. It is still covered all the same. Just like the O.S just we will have to go through Align which I have found to be no big deal at all.

So I should run the .008 and the .004 shim in my OS .91HZ or Align 91H just like the SZ-H right?

Depends on the fuel. CP and Wildcat usually work best with a total shim of .0016 while Magnum likes .0020. There should be a .008 already installed with an extra .008 and .004 shim in the box.

wonder why align's cheap ass dint give any shims with the engines? if they know people are going to run 30..it even is recommended in the manual to run 15-30%....why would they not give you the shims to use so you dont have detonation in the engine?

Ok I bought the .008 and .004 with the gasket so I am going to open it up now and put the two new ones in.

Edit:

Is there supposed to be lock washers on this head?

Also there is no rubber ring in there. The manual doesn't show one either nor does it show lock washers.
