Hi Guys
Was looking through the store the other day, and noticed we had some carbon booms for the Hurricane EP550. Looked very close to the size of the QJ.
So I take it home, it fits the boom clamps
Have to find my calipers before I remove the tail case.
Also picked up an EP550 boom support clamp, and am going to run the actual boom struts off a HDX500.

Today I went and saw a local machinist (spelling?? ) and had a 19 tooth pinion bored out from 3mm to 5mm. I had it left over from my Mega, but had forgotten about it.

Have yet to fit the new pinion, but Im looking forward to having some pop to the QJ now

Im thinking maybe 4min flight on 6s 2200 lol. It will be fun though.
My friend gave me back my rotorworkz chassis, as he wasnt going to use it, so thats great, except that Rotorworkz isnt doing the frames anymore, so crashing will suck. Going to see if some of my contacts can make replacement frame parts for me out of 2mm carbon.
See how much $$ first.

Oh yeah, almost forgot......the "Lemon" canopy is back
Im gettin there now lol.
Cant wait till I can afford the Scorpion 1000kv motor and some Outrage 6s packs......or maybe 8s 2200? lol

I have both the 1210kv and the 1000kv Scorpion motors ,of the 2 the 1210kv is the best one , most powerful , i think i`m using a 15 tooth pinion at around 2650RPM`s...

be carefull with those carbon booms. the boom clamp can cause stress cracks in the boom. this happened to my cf boom and caused a crash from vibration that wasnt visible to me.

Yes im also on the market for CF frames for my EX, as the last crash last week cracked the frame near the counter gear. The rotorworkz V2 frames were made for the SP, and the ones from Quick are too expensive.

I was drawing up a new one for a while and have been working on this new one for a few days. Im trying to make it as cheap as possible bec. I know how expensive and time consuming it is to have these things done.

I want to use the 1000KV, because a larger pinion is required.
Just to space the motor a bit further out for clearance.

Twinring
The boom clamp is a plastic one, so no real chance of it getting tight enough to crack the boom.....I HOPE! lol
I will keep an eye on it though.

The thing that annoys me with the Rotorworkz chassis, is that in the event of a crash, you take out some servo gear, and then have to split the frames to get the damned servo out.
That sux!!
Good luck with the frame designing Twinring, perhaps I will have a crack at it myself as well. See what we can come up with?

EP550 boom is 20.99mm, so close enough.
Boom clamp fits very nice and is pretty low profile, no weight, no bulk.
HDX500 carbon boom supports need one ends holes drilled to M3, but besides that they look great and are plenty stiff. Cheap too
EP550 boom clamp was about $3!! excellent
