Hi, I need to change the clutch bearing (the small one closest to the engine) in my Venture 30. How do I get the old one out or do you have to change the bell with the bearing? Dave

Normaly you should be able to punch the old bearing out.

Use a large as possible punch while still being able to reach the inner bearing ring. Punch the bearing out with a hammer. Unless the bearing had been replace before and a large amount of locktite was use, it should be easy to do.

Otherwise, apply some heat on the bearing area, being careful not to overheat the clutch bell (or heat in unevenly).

There are two bearings that are secured in the frame. one on top the other. The upper one guides the starter shaft and the lower one guides the clutch bell by the top of the pinion gear. you will have to split the frame to replace these. The one-way bearing in the center of the clutch can be pressed out (takes a lot of force - I crushed one pressing it out) but I think you'll have a hard time locating a new bearing and pressing it in without damaging it. Might be better off buying a new clutch - the bearing is already installed.

Huh?

Thanks for the help, guys. Maybe I should have been a little more specific. It's the bearing in the bottom of the clutch bell and mdu6
got it right. I will have to search for a punch of the right size. At first look the bearing appeared to be the same diameter as the shaft but I do see now just a very slight edge of the inner race. I'll see if I can find the right size punch. Thanks

after you get the bearing pulled you may find one here

but you'll need to measure the old one unless some here knows if you are planning in staying in this hobby you may want to invest in a good set of digital calipers this will make you life alot easyer
