Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > Moving from 30% to 15%

I have an OS91 sz on a Raptor 90, tuned and running good. It starts very good, has good transition, and good top end. I am not a 3D pilot and more of a 'scale like' person. I am running all head shims(that came with motor) with good smooth performance on 30%. If I move down to 20% or even 15% what will I probably need to do with the needles. I am often flying in 95F temp. Will I need to remove shims or should I try and fly with the shims and see what happens. Will I probably need to go more lean or more rich to keep the engine running smooth. I am all about a smooth running engine, some loss in power is not a big deal to me.

Thanks

You may also need to change the plug as well. I find that enya 3's run pretty darn good in both my hyper .50 and my ys .90sr that is a hot plug so it should do well with the lower % of nitro.

if your flying in hotter weather id stay with %30. itll cool the motor better in those hotter temps. i can never get a consistant running engine on %15. but maybe im not using the right plug.

With the lack of available 30% fuel, I think he is really asking what he can do to compensate. Not so much what he "should" be running.

Here in Arizona. We simply stopped flying for a few weeks a month to conserve our stock of 30%. No way we can run less nitro when it's around 107-115 outside.

Electrics don't fair so well in that heat either. Come on Olympics. get done and over with so Nitro is available again.

Tech Tip of the month: Check all your bearings before you pack it up for winter. Oil = no rust!
