Yes, the pinion is made like this, the top section is made to fit in the bearing and normaly fitted with Locktite.
Now, to remove the pinion from the clutch bell I would put the pinion in a vise (using two blocks of wood) and then protect the bell with a couple of layers of electrical tape, add two pieces of wood (small blocks) on the side again with electrical tape. Then use a large set of pliers to turn it out. This is a low tech approach, if you have access to something like this, it is even easier.

Looking at your parts (was this heli stored under water ?? !!) some combination of heat and penetrating oil (WD40) might be necessary. |
