Hi All,

I'm replacing my 770 3D gyro with a Spartan DS760. Can anyone tell me what I should set the gain to? I'm running 2100 rpm and have a DX7 transmitter.

Thanks!

I am running 36% on a futaba 9C Tx. Don't know if thats much help to you.

Angelos from spartan rc provided a lot of input on the helifreak review. Might find your answer there.

Hi Lloyd,

Good question. It's a gyro that I've really liked. It's just worked. But I have 611s in my other helis and the 770 3D is not fully configurable. I would like to adjust the stops a little softer. I know that it's kind of picky, but I'm so spoiled by my 611s that I wanted to upgrade.

The other reason is that I have a friend who wants my 770. So I can help him get a 770 and get a minor upgrade at the same time.

Oh yeah, and the final reason is that I had bought a Spartan gyro and have it sitting around. I thought I had a problem with the 770 initializing before my AR7000 receiver. But I found out it was that I hadn't rebound the receiver after I added two clicks of trim. Once I rebound, the gyro has been fine so I just had the Spartan lying around.

Keep 'em flying.

Hi Fergus,

That is exactly the same information I got in a PM from Finless Bob. That's where I'll start and probably end.

Thanks much!

Hi All,

Well, I have my Spartan installed and well tested. (I replaced my JR 770 3D) Here are the results:

- Gain: 36% which is 68% on my DX7 gyro screen ((68-50)*2)=36%
- Gyro end point adjustments: High 85, Low 90
- Transmitter expo: 30%
- Transmitter end point adjustments: 150 left and right. Even at max (150) the piro rate still isn't as fast as my JR 770 3D.

The improvements over my JR 770 3D are softer stops and no initial wag in nose down funnels.

An odd thing about my installation was that I required 4 clicks of subtrim to get a neutral signal the gyro would recognize. My JR required the same, except that I used three clicks of trim to get it to stop drifting.

My Spektrum must not have the rudder channel well centered. The nice thing about the Spartan is that it gives you two blinks when you're not at neutral and a solid light when you're at neutral. So it was an easy matter to get the sub trim dialed in.

No big deal, but contrary to popular opinion, this is a time when you need to trim a gyro.

Love the new gyro, but the JR was pretty good too.

Keep 'em flying.
