I started a new thread so no one will miss the announcement.

HeliCam Solutions would like to invite everyone to an AP conference at Lake Texoma, Texas. Date will be October 10,11, and 12th -- Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

I will be displaying the new HCS Tazor-3x mount so don't miss this conference!!

Plenty of two bedroom cabins are available but we need to reserve the correct amount soon. Please sign up in this thread so we can keep track of who is coming.

To help defray costs HeliCam Solutions and others are donating $500.00 toward the total cost of the cabins. Although we are sponsoring the event, this is an AP conference so all mounts are welcome!

Grandpappy Marina

Next to the Marina is an abandoned air strip which belongs to the Marina so we have plenty of space to fly.

hmmm... how long and wide is that airstrip and what is the field elevation?

edit - found it on Google Earth. about 1400' long at 120' wide at 700' MSL. Too short for me to get in with the Archer.

I'll put this on my calendar. Maybe will make it a birthday weekend getaway. I'll be 34 on the 11th of October.... ugghhhhh

I guess we officially sign up here?

Count me and my wife in for sure.

I will have my Tazer 800 and HCS mount there as well, and my Bergen Turbine Observer, with I have no idea what kind of mount is on it

This is going to be a blast!

I am definitely in.... even though that date is painfully close to a magazine deadline for me.

I did some preliminary research, and found that I can rent a full size (9 passenger) van at the Dallas airport for the three days for $455.00.

How many of you are planning on flying into Dallas? We could split the costs of a van for the 3 days. Also, I'm tentatively planning to ship my helicopter, radio, etc. by Greyhound bus. Greyhound will hold a crate for you at the bus station. You can remove the contents... go to the AP conference... return to the bus station and repack your crate, and send it home.

Since I am basically lazy, and pretty much hate driving long distances by myself, I'm pretty sure that I will fly over. What I rent for a car depends on how many "Passengers" I have scheduled.

Just for reference, round trip air fare on Southwest right now is $247 from Albuquerque.....

If flying privately, look for Grayson County Airport in Sherman, Tx. It was formerly Perrin AFB. Not sure if a commuter services that airport or not. As for major air carriers, Love Field/Dallas or DFW is about the closest in Texas (about 1.5 to 2 hours drive to site). Commuter airlines probably also service Wichita Falls Municipal, near Sheppard AFB. (about 60-70 miles west of the conference site). Durant, Oklahoma is about 20-30 miles north and may have service but I'm not sure.

"It was formerly Perrin AFB"

I was born at Perrin back in the day while my pop was flying Phantoms for Uncle Sam. Rumor has it the flyboys used to hoist a few beverages and try and steal the beacon off the water tower.

Cheers,
Jeff

I've volunteered to run the "taxi service" to get people from either Love Field or DFW to the conference site.... assuming there is enough interest. In a perfect world, it would be good to make one run from Dallas, around noon ..... so figure out what is available in airline connections, and we'll work it out accordingly...

I'm on a rotation in/out of country. If I am home during that time, I'd love to go providing things work out.
