How necessary is the header tank in my N9? will you recommend on adding a header tank?

Not really necessary. I use the fuel manget and it gets all the fuel out of the tank if I fly it that long. Though I have to leave a bit of fuel in the tank so the fuel magnet lasts longer, or it dries out.

Ron's looks to be out of stock of these.

I've not seen a "good" place to mount a header tank. The examples I've seen are either on a really long standoff (ie. far from the frames with a nice long lever to break the frames in a crash), or required a long section of fuel tubing.

The first option isn't great because it's easy to increase crash damage.

The second option isn't great because you generally want to keep your fuel tubing as short as possible (though I can't remember exactly why).

Is this OK?
I made it from an old carbon boom and blades washers - the idea is that there will be no lever to break the frame in case of a crash and that the header tank will stay put and will not rotate.

Its not installed yet (no 4mm hole in frame to hold it yet) - waiting to hear some opinions from you guys.

The boom simply spreads the lever over a larger area - it's still a lever. It also has the header tank extending well past the canopy's cross-section, which gets a point deduction from me.

However, I've seen similar mounts that apparently work fine, and I'll give you bonus points for reuse of old parts.

For me, the ideal mount would be with little more than a washer between the header tank holder and the main frames.

My favorite is this one:

The problem is that it ends up with somewhat long lengths of fuel tubing.

Hi ofir!

I use this configuration about a half a year.
No Problem at all and the fuel line is perfect.

Six months? You fly in winter? Bonus points!

It Looks like a good place to put a header, as well.
