the hirobo gear is machine cut and the se gear
the rex one is a plastic moulding
if you want to compare the std gears
hirobo std freya 0414-113 £10.50 (pack of 1)
t rex 700 £10.99 (pack of 2)
but the std hirobo gear is of a better quality

my freya that i bought 2nd hand has the std main gear which i changed after 3 years of use (but i don't know how much use it had before)
the trex700 hasn't flown yet as i'm waiting for the rain to stop

and if you ask me which i prefer at the moment my raptor 90 but things may change when i have flown the t rex

i had a gap in the rain
and took the 700 out for a test fly, i hovered it for a bit and did some gentle circuits and apart from 1 turn to track the blades and a little aileron trim (that i will alter mechanicaly later) its flying well
it is a little sluggish as i'm running it very rich as not to damage the engine on the first few tanks
the control ratio's seem better than my freya

after the build issue's i'm now happier with it and glad it fly's well

there's just one thing i want this rain to stop to get it bedded in and to have fun with it

rain, rain go away don't come back another weekend

Add another

I just got my 700 flying today. Even though the wind was blowing pretty hard, the heli realy did perform well, I can't wait to get the thing up in calm air.
Went with a pretty tame set up, 9451's, 611, YS 91 SR and 710 rotortech's.

I only spent about 15 hours from opening the box to loading the RTF heli into the car to go to the field. Picked it up Thursday and flew Saturday.

i've put 1 1/2 gallons through it now running the motor in very rich with no power
next time out i'll start to lean it out slowly and see what it goes like
the 700's like the sceadu nods well with a slow head speed , thats going to change as its time to up the head speed

even with the slow head speed it tracks well turns ok and handles the wind ok and auto's well

but not as good as the raptor yet

LOL. Yep, looks like he made the same mistake I did. I didn't look at the manual and just assumed the tank would squeeze in there like pretty much all of the others.

it was the first thing i did with my kit

because it won't go into the frames if you follow the build manual without use of a kanga hammer. it's not an issue for me as i built mine with tank in place first but for others it would be worth trying.

cheers

payne1967..i would use the carbon rod for the linkage, it really stiffens it up and it vibrates like hell with out it, which i herd can eventually lead to it cracking off, just put the rod in a drill and run it through the carbon rod, it gets kinda hot so wear a glove, and use some oil when puttin it through

raptorheli2.. whats a kanga hammer?

dude..wheres my heli?????ama#902014

it will come apart to sort the links out anyway so i'll do it then
i'm going with the quick uk balls and rod ends, that will make all but 4 of the rod ends 2mm with a std size ball

Don't forget to do the tank grommet mod by turning the grommet around (opposite direction of what the manual says) so it's easier to remove and install the clunk line once the tank is in-place.

Payne1967,
You are so right, I should have known better as i built No 22.
No big deal as it hapens, as i had loose built it & not locktited the bolts yet.
Tank now in and build progressing.
