| Hi,
Keith, "Neal is a stand up guy and a good person to deal with as far as I have seen from him!!!"
I am kinda torn on that one, he did return my money but I would be a believer if he had mentioned a few of the other problems, lets face it a bent flybar is a bent flybar and there really is no question on that..
The clutch bearings are bad, tight, notchy, rough, dry, (I did'nt say dirty) they have locked up at one time and spun inside the clutch bell. The clutch is blue and it was'nt annodized (heat treated, hot start, you get the picture). The main shaft and flybar bearings could probably be cleaned up and re-used buts they are gonna be rough and cause problems .
The secondary pulley bearings where bone dry, felt rough and made a ton of noise and from the looks of the machine they had a lot of time on them, more than likely due for new ones. As I said above I did'nt go any farther into the heli.
Am I picky, yes and this is not ebay. Is it really that much work to check the heli out before putting it up for sale, "I did'nt see the problem's" is b.s.. The first time around I honestly believed it was a mistake but after seeing the same heli for sale and no mention of the problems I am now sure it was'nt.
The price is not an indication of the helis condition and it really does'nt help when you say "in good shape". If anybody is considering purchasing this heli I firmly believe it is pretty much worn out, not maintained and lots of hours in the air and in need of some $$$.
Neal, You know the condition of the heli and the problems and so do I. If you had put an honest descriptive post up my messages would of never been seen. But to me it looks like your trying to hide some known problems. Bad bearings really are not that subjective. Cleaing a bad bearing will not fix a pitted race, replacing it will.
Here is my email for which neal's response is up above (kinda out of order)

After finding out the rear big pulley bearings where bad (either top or bottom or possibly both) I quit looking, I have'nt looked at the head or tail bearings as of yet. So far these are the bearings that it needs:
2 - S0245 Clutch Bearing 15x24x5 $16.45 $32.90 (there is also some damage to the hub because the bearings where'nt turning)
1 - S0211 Main Shaft Bearing 10x22x6 $14.06
1 - S3534 Flybar $8.96 (bent)
2 - S3367 Flybar Bearings 4x10x4 $24.42 (may clean up and work fine)
1 - S0210 - BALL BEARING 10X19X5 (1) $14.92 (upper belt pulley bearing)
1 - S0212 - BALL BEARING 8X16X5 (1) $15.18 (lower belt pulley bearing)
Total $110.44 (just a start from what I've looked at)
The spindle and mainshaft appear to be straight but I am afraid due to the amount of time on the tail and head bearings / thrust bearings they are probably bad as well. I simply quit looking due to the prices of the bearings. I just dont beleive its cost effective to get back into the air.
I just ask for a refund on the $375 and once that is received I will send the helicopter back at my cost, more than likely you can sell it as a parts machine for the same price to someone else. This is my first robbe so it just wont serve me much purpose as it is and the cost to repair it is just too high for me to consider that. I really did'nt expect perfection originally, just a flyable helicopter. Quite a few of the bearings are rough enough to cause some major radio problems.
We can hopefully handle this via email for now, I unfortunely managed to pick up a cold or flew in the last couple of days so I do know how you felt a week ago. Much more pleasent to hack, cough and sneeze on my keyboard than my phone As it is now I do believe it is an honest mistake that any of use can make.
Let me know,
Brian |
