Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 700N Align needs to add thinner spacers for main shaft.

CKD and I both had issues with the spacers on page 22. THe thinnest of the 3 spacers is too thick. Not even close.

My thinnest was .79mm thick, and I had to sand and sand it until it got down to .68mm.

Align, we need a 0.68mm washer for the kit!

Hey Rockohaulic, for those of us who don't have a kit yet, where exactly do these spacers go?

It goes between the step on the shaft and the top bearing block to adjust the end play

I once choked a smurf to see what color it would trun

i thought the same, go fly it once, you will need the spacer. mine did not seem like it needed any spacer, flew it once and there was the play. put the smallest spacer in there and it has been rock solid since.

Hey Rockohaulic have you guys tried putting the spacers in first and then tightening down the mainshaft bearing blocks? with the bearing blocks loose you might be able to get a little bit of up and down movement to adjust for the shim

Either way if all you had to do was thin the shim I'd say thats a pretty good build

You have to run a spacer. I don't think you can fly it without one. Mine was a pain with the smallest spacer and even after 11 flights its still rock solid. Like Rock says we need a thinner shim.

The frames have notches for the blocks to lock into and theres no room for play. I tried loosening up my blocks but that didn't help either. The only way was to lightly sand down the spacer

get some main shaft shims from synergy. 106-120 these work perfect if your small shim is to thick. good luck

I used the thinnest spacer as well, it took a bit to get the bolt in but it lined up fairly well with the smallest one, a little tight but it was ok. I really like the built in coller seems like a good idea.

Trouble is, when you force it in like that, it puts a lot of tension on the main shaft bearings. What I did was to put the shaft in a lathe and usiing a file, took off some material until it went in without as much force. This made everything nice and smooth when you turned the main shaft by hand.
I agree too that we need more choices of shims so we don`t have to do any of this.

I've read some more posts lately that a few others have had this shim/spacer issue.

So far, sounds like one of the only issues with the build.

The shim seems to be fine on three of the helicopters I've worked on.

I think its really fun how all the nay-sayers were talking doom and gloom about Aligns QC as the 700 was being developed. Well look at them now over in the A#$%^A forums...major components missing from kits, major components out of tolerance and wrong size bearings installed. There's more 700's out already than the A#$^A and the only issue is an oversized shim that costs $.03. My flying vacuum machine went together so easy..even counting the shim issue( I had it like everyone else so far) this was the best most straight forward build I have ever had. I still cant get over how perfect all the tolerances were on all of the holes in the frames. Every thing lined up perfect with no play at all and my frame is perfectly square with no effort. Another thing I like is that isn't a set screw smaller than 2mm to be found on this thing. My Furys are loaded with small set screws that always strip...can't even say how much down time those machines have had because of that.

well just a little more radio set up and clean up the wiring and my flying vacuum will be done!

I second that!

I love the fact that all the hardware is one size larger than a 600. Makes the build soooooo much easier!

THANK YOU. I got a pre-production kit and not one issue. I didn't even have a issue with the shim but oh well. The few guys I fly with hate the fact that my 700 has not blown up since their machine does not last a day and now they can't wait till I actually make a mistake and crash.

Well it seems as though I would need a shim of 0.2mm!!
I'll run a few tanks to see if it beds in.

But Is the shim needed? The step in the main shaft just rests on the shim that then rests on the bearing. Surely the shaft just resting on the bearing is doing the same thing.

the shim is to eliminate any vertical play in the shaft. if there is any vertical play it will effect pitch inputs.

just rechecked play and it is less than 0.06mm, haven't got feeler gauges smaller than that!!

I don't think that will affect pitch inputs!
