I have a couple of old style TP 4S4P 8000mah packs that I want to run in series. The problem is they don't have balance plugs installed. Is it worth the effort to put them on? If so, where are they available? any other advice is welcome also.

Thanks,

Wendell

Yes you can buy balance taps on their own. They're not difficult to install. It really is worth putting them on so you can see what's going on inside the pack and so you know the battery is in good shape.

Different brands and chargers may have slightly different wiring.

If you're using hyperion, I would use two 4S taps and charge the pack as two 4S packs. There are chargers now that can charge and balance two packs at the same time without breaking the bank.

What charger do you have?

Thunder Power to LBA6

Here's a wiring diagram that may help:

And for Hyperion Packs with an LBA10:

Thanks! This is exactly what I needed. I use a Schulze ISL 6-330D charger with the TP-210V balancer.

I had the Schulze with the two buttons that come from Maplins for like 0.01 pence each

Please don't assume the diagrams I posted are what you need. They are for connecting packs to the LBA6 and LBA10 (also 0403i, 0606i, 0610i and 0606i DUO balance-chargers).
