Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Want some feedback about the Aurora from people that got it after its release

With all the negative posts (bashing) about the Aurora prior to its release.............

Just how good is this heli. I mean out of the box, are all the parts there, are the instructions clear, how's the quality of the parts, and so on?

Does this heli go together well?

Whats the Pros and Cons fo this heli?

Are there issues with this heli that owners and future owners should know?

Was it worth the wait?

Aloha,

Les

It was well worth the wait!!! I was missing the mixing arms, but I sent
Augusto a PM and I had them in two days , before I finished the build.
The kit was packaged well and went together without a hitch. This is my
first 90 so I can't compair it to anothers, but I can't seem to get the grin off my face after flying it.Even after the long wait and listening to all the haters, this heli has met all my expectations!!!
The manual has now been updated and is easy to follow.

Well worth the wait. Performance is second to none. Much easier than the original Avant to work on as well.

Why don't you buy one,you may have to wait and then check it out for your self, This is one copter I would not try to explain anything about,, if you need an explanation it's out of your league

With all the negative posts about the Aurora,

I haven't seen any of those
negative posts yet. Are you
sure we're talking about the
same helicopter?
Cuz the only things for me
that come to mind about
the Aurora are all positive.

Just to MAKE SURE we're talking
about the same helicopter,
the Avant Aurora.

They look sorta like this:

really, I can't think of anything negative about this bird.

Im talking about the negativity towards the heli before it was released. Sorry if I did not make that point clear. Just trying to get input on the heli as it is one that I might be interested in flying.

Why would it be out of my league if I need an explanation?

This is just a thread to find out info to help me make an informative decision, and maybe other potential buyers of the Aurora.

OK let me tray the explain, I've been flying Heli's for about 18/19 yrs as a result I've seen a lot and flown a lot, so as far as design goes I've pretty much seen them all this copter in partucular you should be able to tell what it is capable of doing by just looking at the design, in other words experience combined with the visual you get should give you enough information to decide, if you need help to decide it's out of your league it's kinda like you don't know what you want.

Be nice to be able to GET ONE........... man........ still cant get one in the UK.

Did they only make a hundred kits? After all the "official release" you STILL cant buy one over here. All the first lot were allocated and now no more news on the second batch...... I mean WTF is that all about?

Cheers, Will.

Amen

I have a kit which I'm slowly building and acquiring parts for at the moment, I can't comment on actual flight performance (as it's not completely built), However, the part quality, in particular the CNC machined alloy is second to none and the general part tolerance is so fine it's scary.

Yes, there were a few missing parts, and a couple of misaligned drilled holes in the boom, irritating, but very minor in the skeem of things.

The main thing is the vendors have been very quick to correct things, and support counts for a lot IMO.

To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction

Looking at a design doesn't mean anything will fly well, I have seen Augusto and Brandon fly theirs at the field in Cali where I live and it IS an awesome heli. You cannot tell flight performance purely from CAD imagery. Just look at the amount of changes all these prototypes go through during testing. What looks good on paper doesn't always work. PROVEN FACT MANY TIMES

Nothing beats asking people with FIRST HAND experience with a product. Ask the guy with the separated swashplate how he feels about it. Product support... AWESOME. One time occurance. Probably. Missing parts from kits.... Parts support to fix the issue.. AWESOME... Do the people that packed the kits still have a job. Probably. Will the second batch be missing parts. Unlikely, because now I'm sure Augusto has put a system in place to ensure it doesn't happen again. Is the heli worth the price? Damn right it is. Do you want one? Only you can decide off of what you learn from others experience with it. I personally have been watching for the issues people are having and how things are handled.

Globally first batches have been spotted in the UK and US but as far as other countries still not even the first batches never mind even worrying about second batches, Very slow considering I am on the first batch list and it has been well over two months since it was released!!

I hear the landing gear is designed to break off in a crash. I also noticed things like the boom support rods and bottom engine plate are all bolted to the landing gear. TO me, it's not obvious from the manual how this is advantageous- like if you pull out of a bad landing and break your landing gear...doesn't that take the tail with it too since they are attached the boom supports?

Don't know if it's good or not as I am still waiting for mine close to 2 years. Their production scale is probably very small.

I really like the mixture servo mount along with the frame stack up. Not too crazy about the complexity of the head.
