Is the longer tail boom a worthwhile upgrade? I see parts are 1/2 off now. Also has anyone felt the need to double up on or rienforce the motor mount plate? Thanks.

Hi,

Long tail boom improve the visual and provide better tail authority, but you need to get a better gyro and good servo to get the best result from extending the tail.

For upgrade, I will suggest do the metal mixing arms and metal grips. Those are the only things that are needed to upgrade to full metal heads.

Good time to stock up parts from Hobby Lobby. They are really good prices.

Few canopies for later use or just for different styles. BTW, the Mars canopy will fit Poseidon frame just need to adjust the upper canopy mounts.

Motor mount is made out of carbon fiber, they are strong enough. Not a bad idea to stock some. The fact is the motor mount is common parts for Mars and Poseidon.

Few things, I will suggest to stock is tail blades and main gears. and landing skids. They will wear out or in minor crash, you will need main gears. Even few first aids kits will be good to keep in case of fly too hard..

Actually, most of times when land hard, the tail booms will be the first thing to replace as well as some tail rotor parts. The plastic tail pitch slider will be damaged in hard tail first landing.

Endless list.. hope these will help.

Thanks, I did order the long boom from H-L. I placed an order mostly beacause I have to replace a link in the tail that was stripped. I got some extra tail blades too, they are very unique. I didn't see metal grips or mixing arms for sale... I got a gold canopy, just for fun. My main gear is a little warped but I did not get another. I am running a Futaba 401 gyro with the high speed tail drive gear but I also will have the 38 and 39 tooth gear, I may try them but I guessed a high rpm tail is better. Now that I see how well the Poseidon flies I don't mind spending a little on upgrades! Eric

Eric

PM you the upgrade source. I am not supposed to put up any ads in public reply.

MicroVan,

It will not hold or it kick in pattern.

1. Check your tail linkage. Remove linkage from tail servo arm and check if it is tie and move freely all the way.
2. Makes sure your motor is run smoothly and head speed is up to at least 2500.
