I've been told that flybars can be straitened is this true? You can never get it back perfectly straight. Will it affect how the heli fly's if it's still a little crooked???

I did it myself

I wrapped a heli around myself yesterday because of a "HOT" start

Bent one side about 15 degrees... I just look at it and worked it until straight...started it up and did some hovering... all was needed was 2
clicks of Rt aileron....not the recommended procedure,but hey...I was hot to fly...

I straighten them out for other club members all the time. Its quite simple to straighten out a prezelized flybar with 20+ years of experience in bending wire things. Heck when I am done you can't tell it was ever bent with the exception of some small colour discolourization where more prominant bends were. Carefull examination with a keen eye should spot any bends that are just plain and simply not straightenable, like where a bend has actually fractured the metal (cracked.) Bars bent in such fashion should of course be scrapped.
But then again there are those that couldn't straighten out a straight line to begin with. That group of people should just resign themselves to the fact that they should just simply forget about even trying and just go buy a new one.

Here's my trick

This will work as long as there are no bad kinks in the flybar. Take a wood 2x4 block and drill a hole just big enough for the flybar to fit through. Clamp the block tightin a vice then chuck up the flybar in a drill then whial the drill is on pull the flybar through the block at about a 15° angle. When it comes out it should be nice and strait. Again this will only get out light to medium bends. Give it a try,
