Today, while flying at a local high school (not in session) the boom on my 600N came out of the boom block enough to disengage the torque tube from the front tail transmission WHILE INVERTED!!!!!

so luckily I hit hold and piro flipped her upright and landed with no damage

Realflight G3 just payed for itself today

Nice save! I don't think I'd respond so quickly and automatically myself. Note to self: need to work more on my piroflips.

I think that's at least the second time I've heard of the tail boom or case ejecting itself on the TT driven tail models. Do we need a better design for securing the boom into the frame and the case onto the boom?

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

you are not the first as he say, why not try oneway barring torque tube.

What I've done on many helis is wrap the end of the boom with some electrical tape and the put into the rear boom mount, has worked very well for me.

Pinned mine at both ends. Drilled a little hole in the boom block end and used a self-tapping metal screw. Then I dremeled it short enough to clear the TT.

I put a screw in the tail case under the fine through the natural hole. It is much smaller then the hole but it rides where the tail can't go back. If it turns it will only be a little.

I saw screw it!

thanks for the suggestions guys, I know however why the boom backed out of the block, it was due to me stripping 2 of the 4 screws that tighten the block onto the boom, it held, but it eventually failed hence my episode today...... my legs were shaking for about 45 minutes afterwards.....
