I've been doing this helicopter hobby thing for about a year now and I have a few helicopters. My indoor heli, the axe ez, is my second coaxial helicopter and I enjoy bringing it to the office and flying it around. Well, I haven't been flying it much recently because it always felt like the battery was low.

I have three betteries, so I finally charged up all three and tried them all out. I get the same results with each battery. I put the throttle stick all the way up, and it barely hovers just a few inches above the ground. I did this for a while and noticed that it would occasionally spike in power and take off like it should, but only for a moment then it would fall back down, not too hard, but back to the ground then hover just a few inches from the ground.

This means there has to be something wrong with either the transmitter, the speed controller, or the motors. Well, I think that it is unlikely a problem with the transmitter, the motors would speed up both at the same time when it spiked, so that rules out the motors, that leaves me with the speed controller. Trial and error, but I guess I have to order a new speed controller.

I read somewhere that the Blade CX2, also coaxial, uses 180 size motors, where the Axe EZ uses 120 size motors. I read that these 180 size motors will fit right in without any modifications. I'm considering this upgrade, but since I'm no electrician, I do have a question.... Hmm, well, actually, no I don't.

It's amazing how you can have questions, go to a forum and start explaining your situation, and find that in the process you've addressed all of your concerns...

I was going to ask if anyone knows, based on the symptoms, whether it's a bad transmitter, speed controller, or motors.

I was further going to ask if these larger motors would be compatible with the stock battery of the Axe Ez. Then it occured to me that all I need to do was find out what kind of batter the Blade CX2 has. Well, if anyone knows the answer to this off the top of their heads, I'd appreciate it.

Otherwise, hey, I hear you can put Blade CX2 motors into an Axe Ez.
Cheers...

Disclaimer: I need this disclaimer because there are weenies out there on these boards who like to point out that I've wasted their time because this stuff was already posted and I just needed to search for it. Well, my disclaimer states that if a message similar to mine has already been posted, that it not my responsibility whether your time was wasted in reading/responding to this post. However, I do appreciate you showing me the answers.

Ohh, hey, I know what I wanted to ask.
There appear to be three little adjustable pot thingies on the gyro/speed control/reciever thingy. Does anyone know what they do?

Oh yay... That speed control/reciever/gyro thing is $60.

Well, before I fork out $60 to fix a $160 helicopter, does anyone know of a way to test/verify whether it is this unit that is bad?

Thanks.
