Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 600N need quick answer - canopy too tight

hey guys,

my right rear canopy mount is too tight, streching the grommet to the rear of hole. it appears the canopy needs to move slightly rearward to relieve the strain on the grommet, yet the black plastic clip on front won't let it. any ideas?

don't mean to rush you but I want to fly tomorrow!

thanks!

You aren't getting it clipped all the way on the bottom. They are super tight at first. It should snap all the way on.

I have simply begun enlargening the holes for the canopy mount on the fiberglass canopies. It doesn't get rid of all the tighness but just enough so that I am not killing grommets left and right. I also boil the clips per a suggestion on RR previously and that is assisting with the mounting also. But definately make your holes a "little" larger, but not too big. I just reamed mine slightly.

The other thing after looking at the pic you included, the canopy I don't believe on the front clip is all the way on. On my fiberglass canopies I purchased I had to sand a bit on the inside of the front clip area to make sure they butted all the way to the back of the clip. Once I did that little mod, along with reaming the holes, it has worked out pretty good. Given, I still go through grommets, but nearly as bad.

Every time I fly I loose more hair! LOL

The picture is mine not his.

I have no problem with my canopy. Mine fits really great.

You do need to slide the clip all the way on the canopy, press hard to get the clip seated in the canopy itself before you even clip it on the skids.

My friend does it the way you describe. I clip it on the bottom first. No right or wrong way as long as you aren't taking out your gromets.

Mine fits tight, also.

Solution: I heated up the plastic rear mounting pegs, bent them a bit. I also cut off the ends and made them a tad shorter, drilled holes in them and use canopy mounting screws.

Works for me.

I'd rather be flying

thanks for the quick response boys, much appreciated!

Okay, I checked the clip and it was snapped all the way on. Super tight but definitely locked on.

Here's what I did:

-boiled the clip
-sanded the molding lines off it
-reamed the grommet holes

It seems much better now. Still a bit too tight imo but much better than it was for sure.
