Kyosho Caliber 30 & 60 - Concept - Nexus > Binding tail linkage?(Nexus)

I'm sure that everyone who owns a Nexus has noticed that the tail pitch control linkage seems to bind where the coupler joins the servo rod to the tail-boom rod. Just wondering if it's enough to hinder performance or not (I do get a little tail-wagging). If so, does anyone have some suggestions on how to get the bind out?
Thanks,

Byronman,

Binding in any machine is never good. Tail wagging can be caused by any number of things aswell.

I owned a nexus when they first came out and don't remeber if I had that problem. However, the sure way to get slop-free no binding tail pitch control is to move that rudder servo to the tail boom.

I know this does not solve your problem, but I would consider a boom mounted rudder servo.

I bet someone on here has done that upgrade and can help you.

Just a thought
Cheers Bert

Nexus?

Ya, that's what I did with mine too. I don't think I had binding, but, it seemed like the "in" thing to do at our field at the time. It does eliminate that coupling with those"tiny" little set screws that I swore at more than once, so that's enough reason for me anyway. The way that rod passes through those gears and stuff didn't seem to good to me either,so put it on the boom and you have "fixed" several potential headaches.
Only thing I forgot is that you may need an extention to go from the servo to the reciever depending on how far away the servo ends up from the rec.

How did you mount yours Blade?
I think thats what I'll do, and I have some ideas on how to do it, but if you have any pic's of your set-up, it might influence me on how I do mine. (how to mount it to the boom)
Thanks again....

Boom Mount?

There are several after market Co.'s that sell them, KSJ is one. They can be had in plastic or aluminum and bolt right on the boom, then the servo is mounted on the bracket.
Couldn't be easier,or if you are handy you can make one out of sheet aluminum. The big advantage is you get rid of all the other connections and links-much simpler and it's a straight run to the tail. This is very handy on belt drive helis, as once it's set up even if you remove the boom it can be put back without changing the tail adjustments.

Thanks for the help,
I think I'll try my hand at making one, it seems to be a fairly straight-forward job. At least if I get real flustered making a mount now, I know were to look to purchase one.
One more quick question - Will there be any affect on the balance of the heli by moving the servo to the boom? (I would guess not)...
Thanks again,

Balance?

Yes, anything that you add to the rear that isn't stock--duh! of coarse anything you add won't be stock Anyway, whatever you do will add weight, just rebalance-I don't like to add dead weight, so just put in a bigger battery-a win-win situation to me.
