Anyone see any reason not to let the Cellpro 4 charge at 3c or greater in automatic on a FP 2170 battery?

Maximum rate I have seen so far is 4.5 amps.

Thanks

According to the online manual, the maximum charge rate on the Cellpro 4 is 4A for 3S packs and 3A for 4S packs.

Given this limit, the max you would get for your 2170mAh, assuming it is a 3 cell pack, is just under 2C with that charger, so you won't be able to reach a 3C charge rate with it.

Thanks for the explanation, battery charging is like nuclear physics to me. I have read many articles on the subject and still get confused or more specifically unsure of understanding the process.

Thanks again

More then 1C charge rate is killing your pack.

I have a thread on the main forum,1 of my fma batts just hit the 500 cycle mark,my 2 newer ones just hit the 200 cycle mark, all three have been charged at 2C since day one,now granted I'm a sport flyer and rarely go past 80%,but with todays batteries/chargers fast charging is safe and wont damage batts, you can have that 1 hour charge time though if you really like it

1/2-hour charging for me as well - 1C recommendations are for safely charging without balancing equipment - FlightPower packs state a recommended max charge rate with proper balancing equipment right on the label - For Evo20 is 2C - Evo25 2.5C - Evo30 3C - My Cellpro charger only does 4A so that's what I charge my 3S 2170s at - Hyperion tested 1C vs 2C charging and found only a 0.3% increase in degradation over 50 cycles which is nothing - 1C is indeed 'old school' with today's charging/balancing equipment and cell matched packs
