I'm in a bit of a panic. I am trying to replace the main rotor spindle (shaft with the large gear wheel at one end) on my CP Pro. I have a lot of the heli apart on the table. I pulled the retaining pin and loosened the collar's set screw, but the spindle doesn't want to come out. What am I doing wrong? Is this a press fit and i just need to pull on the gear wheel harder, or is there something else I need to do.

Please help. I need to try to do this replacement asap.

A lot of times the hole where the retaining pin goes or where the set screw for the collar is, the metal can be distorted or mashed, making it hard for that area to slide past the main bearings. Use a small jeweler's file to smooth these areas out and then the shaft should slide out cleanly.

If you have everything loose and it still will not come out it is jammed, I often use a crescent wrench, adjust it to just larger than the shaft, put it under the collar or the frame bearing, then take a small hammer and tap the top of the shaft while holding the bearing or frame with the wrench. This gives enough impact to push the shaft out.

Thanks guys. That answered my question. The shaft was deformed just enough so the top bering was stuck. i had to use pliers to get it to move, then a small file to smooth out the top of the shaft so I could get it off. Really, the only two things holding this assembly together are the collar with set screw and the pin.
