e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > New CC software – Awesome

I just tried it today in my T600/Kasama 8s and it’s definitely a big improvement. For all you that fly throttle curves the new governor is excellent and the ESC has advances that make it very efficient at less than 100% so you can dial in any headspeed you like.

Has anyone else tried it?

I tried it on my Raptor E620 which has an eMultiGov so I would fly it both ways. It has an improved Helicopter Fixed Endpoint which makes spoolup with the eMultiGov a little smoother.

The new governor software allows you to set three headspeeds just like the eMultiGov. On the same helicopter they both fly about the same. No need to use a tachometer, just enter the gearing and motor information. I only made two flights so far so I need to evaluate this more. The software governor holds headspeed very well.

I tried the simple governor once (Kontronik emulator) but I really like the Set RPM governor mode that lets you set three exact headspeeds that can be selected from the transmitter. I think this is awesome.

Looking forward to read what others think of the new governor modes.

Poles on 600XL?

Has any one got the information on how meany poles there on the Align 600XL 1650KV motor as it now needed for the new CC Software?

According to Esprit it has 6 poles. http://www.espritmodel.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=5762

They also say to use a Switching Frequency of 16-22 KHz but I would start with the CC default of 12KHz and see how that works. For timing the default advance should be good.

Let us know if you find and settings for this motor that are better than the default values.

OK will do but wind is crazy at the present.

How about pole count on a AON 3500?

Software looks good. Too bad I've got eMultigovs on my setups already. The governor software is very detailed. I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

Can you check the temp. on the ESC, running the CC. gov. and running with the E-MultiGov?

Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry to jump in, but there's something I need to make sure about
the new Governor option Set RPM.

I have just downloaded the beta firmware and updated my Phoenix
ESC. I've given the CastleLink Software the number of poles,
the KV value and the number of cells I'm going to use. I have
also given the desired three headspeedsin the throttle tab.
I'm almost set to go, right?

All I need to do now is to set my throttle curve on my TX as
follows:

Normal : a straight line at less than 50%
Idleup 1: a straight line at something between 50 and 98%
Idleup 2: a straight line at either 99% or 100%

In this way, I can choose any of the three desired headspeed.

Am I right? or have I missed anything?

I tried the new software today for my 8s 600E using the CC85HV. I decided to try out the RPM governor mode. I had previously been running fixed endpoints because I didn't want to go through the hassle of setting up the Gov mode in the previous software version. I setup a curve under 50% for normal mode, then flat line at 87.5% in idle 1 and then 100% in idle 2. I didn't see a big jump in the head speed from normal to idle 1 but definitely from idle 1-2. Too bad I didn't have my tach with me. I'll have to have someone tach it for me. I used low gain, medium throttle and startup power. Everything else I pretty much didn't touch. I must say it held its headspeed better than the straight throttle curves and it was definitely a lot smoother than using curves.

I must say this is a significant step forward in terms of setting the governor mode for the CC.

Sorry to bother you, but please enlighten me.

I understand that the throttle percentages -- at what
percentage you draw a flat line in your throttle curve --
do not matter as long as my normal is set below 50%,
IdleUp 1 between 50% and 99%, and IdleUp 2 at 100%.

So, for example, I will get the same headspeed whether my
IdleUp 1 is a flat line at 65% or at 80%.

Is my understanding correct?

Akira,

You know that was my understanding as well. I hope I'm doing it right. That's why my setup is the way it is.

Yes that is correct, I flew my T-Rex 600 with it today much better than the original gov. mode. I changed the gain to medium, responce to high, and frequency to 16 for my 600L.

For Normal I flatlined 25% and 1900rpm
For Idle 1 I flatlined 75% and 2100rpm

I started with the stock settings and you could here the motor float a little from + to - pitch increasing the gov responce seems to have fixed that. The spool speed is much faster I like it. Also it realy holds head speed nicely in climb outs, I dont hear the bog I had before. I think tomarow I will change to

Normal 25% at 1900rpm
Idle 1 75% at 2000rpm
Idle 2 100% at 2100rpm

Now all I have to do is figure out the Auto Rotate, suposedly if you activate it, 1% throttle now becomes the setting to practice Autos and still keep the ESC armed for bail outs with a faster head recovery speed than original spool up. I dont know if I will use Idle 3 for this or try to set it to throttle cut, i will have to sleep on it.

This is a big step for CC much better than the previous SW but this is a lot of testing and reprograming. The JAZZ still has them by a mile

Did anyone have to reset their endpoints with the new SW or were your old ones still good?

Not so sure about that. The CC Simple governor is exactly like the Jazz.

The problem that I have with the Jazz and Simple governor is that they are not a fixed headspeed. If you change battery packs with a slightly different charge lever it homes in on a different headspeed.

With the Set RPM Governor mode you set three exact headspeeds for the three flight modes. I think that is Kontronik that has some catching up to do. The Jazz has been out for a while so Kontronik needs to make a new and improved ESC that has more governor features and 12s capability at a more competitive price.
