ENGINES AND ENGINE RELATED PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
We have successfully completed our initial tests on our 27cc Rotapower engine, developed for the power tool and recreational product markets. We achieved 2.5 hp from this 4-pound engine. The picture below illustrates the size of the Rotapower 27cc engine with that of a 4-stroke piston engine of similar horsepower.

They are developing the motor to meet California's new stringent emitions standars so I guess it takes some time. No point in doing it unless it passes.

That's a way to get a smooth running motor. I had a friend with an RX7, that thing was the smoothest running engine I've ever seen.

Stop talking dirty to me rotary power is coming for gassers I am buying a Spectra-G as soon as I get my $$ in order. Rotary is amazing count me in when it hits the market. What happened to the pic??

It's all about torque ! like are Gasser's not much HP but a lot of torque, compared to nitros.

I realise that, but a stock Zenoah G26 has more HP than that, and is till a torquey motor, so Im just not seeing any advantage to this new motor here.
That is unless they post a torque rating in comparison to a Zenoah, which I doubt. Most manufacturers wouldnt do that, so I dont expect a new company to either.

If you bling it, they will come :D

But there will be no rpm limit there will be no gearing issues. I am no rotary genius by any means I just know A lil bit. If you want a 6.2 ratio or a 9.5 gear ratio you will still be able to run a 2000HS if you want. It will make a gasser alot more like a nitro. Yes true you can get a 2000HS out of a gasser with todays engine offerings but your pushing your upper rpm envelope and using a taller gear that takes away the torque advantage of the gas engine vs nitro. With rotary there is no rpm envelope the only limit to a rotary is how fast combustion can happen inside that particular size engine. The seals are the only weak link not the moving parts of the engine.

..if it's really being developed by Moller then it's going to happen about the same time as his car finally flies.. You'ld be better planning on a cold fusion drive...

I thought rotary motors were notoriously thirsty in their fuel consumption and harder to get them to meet emissions than piston type engines. Has to do with very little time for combustion the faster it revs.By the time it makes great power for it's size it is spinning so fast that combustion is not complete. But they do make lots of power for their displacement and at very high rpms. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly better than I can pilot them

Gas hog

Has anybody noticed that this engine is water cooled, and yes rotarys do use more gas.
