This was the first flight of the Kavan Ranger. What a unique machine.

Hey, I say what ever works.

Those were nice birds in the day. Sure good to see one flying again.

Big Brother Kavan Jet Ranger

Saw your post. Not many Kavan aircraft survived the years. Thought you'd like to see mine that I built in the 70s. It was the big brother to yours I think. OS60, 4chan Futaba and mechanical mixing, no gyro. I flew it many hours 'till fuel soaked the wooden skid and it collapsed on a soft landing. Been hanging in my room since about 1978. I just got back into the hobby a few years ago. I think I'll restore it as it was but not fly it more than short hovers. I can't get parts anymore and I don't want to risk it. My Hirobo Chinook and Caliber 5 keep me in the sport. Nice to see yours flying.

Parts

Actually Kavan is back in business. Now known as American RC. No need not to fly this beautiful bird. He has everything you need. Bring her to IRCHA.

Well thanks, I didn't know that. I'm making up a parts list now and I have decided to restore it as it was. No new mechanics other than a reliable radio, new batteries and servos that are computable with my DX7. (Spiders not withstanding)
I have the motor, an OS60 FRS running in good shape on the bench after almost 30 years hanging up.

Thanks again for the info,

Cheers, Doug
