QueeQueg,
I'm with you, man. How many years has CC been making ESCs and they still can't get the governor mode right? In this day and age, a governor should be fully capable of determining the correct control loop parameters on its own. Oh, wait, we've had that for several years now with a couple other brands.

I tried one machine today, a Logo 6003D with CC85HV and a NEU 1912(H)-1Y.

I am trying simple mode governor. My setting for gain is at 26, anything lower the tail can not keep up on climbouts/pitchpumps, and no it is not my tail gain as I had this set dead on. Anyhow if I go over the 26-28 mark it appears that it kinda has a super fast surge. Now this all being said, its all not negative, it works much much better then the old firmware/software. Is it as good as Kontroniks? Not yet, it is however a big improvement from what I saw today in 6 flights of tweaking. Now the small surging was not to bad, it is annoying however now I have a tail wag I never had, I know it has to do with this surging/governor for sure....

I will still yet try the set rpm mode as well as governor high which I was in prior to this newest 3.1 update.

My so far thoughts concluding,,,,

it's like it is not catching the load demand quick enough on pitch pumps etc, the gain is supposed to acheive this however once you get it fast enough to catch or close to you introduce a surging effect which really negatively affects the tail, and when you take the load off the dampening is not there, where it appears abit abrupt, kind of like a deceleration needed on the load off if this makes sense. This is still what is lacking on CC versus Kontroniks. I feel CC so far has come closer, but still has more work to do to get it better yet.

I'll continue however to mess with it more to see if the other modes work better somehow, I am thinking they will not though as gain has been made a seperate component of the gov state...

It seems obvious that this like all the other firmware revisions is unstable on Gov mode. 1 or 2 % adjustment on gain shouldn't push it from one extreme to the other. For that matter why should you even have to adjust the gain period in "simple governor mode" anyway

I'm sticking with fixed endpoints like cgbole myself. It took me long enough to get an HV ESC that even worked period.

This should give Finless Bob a new Raison D'etre for a while

Well simple mode still requires gain adjustment, trust me I tried not adjusting it and the tail was lagging allot in climbouts and pitch pumps etc. And a few % did make a fair bit of difference for sure, simple mode should not require this, I agree, kind of goes away from the word simple doesen't it...?

Fixed is fine, till you unload yes.

SET RPM mode

Just chiming in, tested SET RPM mode. For me it works better than the e-Multigov combined with Fixed Heli Endpoint. Heli seems to have even more pop. Definitely less overspeeding.

FDR graph e-Multigov / Fixed Heli Endpoints:

FDR graph Castle SET RPM:

Actual headspeed is a bit lower than target (2170 vs 2200) but that is not a big deal, it is holding it just great. Throttle % is at 90%, have looked for tail wag but did not really notice any. Have not tested the other modes.

Why doesn't CC consult with one of the guys that knows how to make a governor work...

Hen3, so in setrpm mode what did you end up doing with the gov gain settings? Also what was your idle or stunt 1% amd your idle 2 or stunt 2 % in radio for throttle?

I started with the governor settings at default and left them there. Idle Up 1 throttle % is 90 and Idle Up 2 throttle % is 100. Only used Idle Up 1 so far.
